si A Forward-Backward Splitting Method for Monotone Inclusions Without Cocoercivity. (arXiv:1808.04162v4 [math.OC] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: In this work, we propose a simple modification of the forward-backward splitting method for finding a zero in the sum of two monotone operators. Our method converges under the same assumptions as Tseng's forward-backward-forward method, namely, it does not require cocoercivity of the single-valued operator. Moreover, each iteration only requires one forward evaluation rather than two as is the case for Tseng's method. Variants of the method incorporating a linesearch, relaxation and inertia, or a structured three operator inclusion are also discussed. Full Article
si Conservative stochastic 2-dimensional Cahn-Hilliard equation. (arXiv:1802.04141v2 [math.PR] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: We consider the stochastic 2-dimensional Cahn-Hilliard equation which is driven by the derivative in space of a space-time white noise. We use two different approaches to study this equation. First we prove that there exists a unique solution $Y$ to the shifted equation (see (1.4) below), then $X:=Y+{Z}$ is the unique solution to stochastic Cahn-Hilliard equaiton, where ${Z}$ is the corresponding O-U process. Moreover, we use Dirichlet form approach in cite{Albeverio:1991hk} to construct the probabilistically weak solution the the original equation (1.1) below. By clarifying the precise relation between the solutions obtained by the Dirichlet forms aprroach and $X$, we can also get the restricted Markov uniquness of the generator and the uniqueness of martingale solutions to the equation (1.1). si Expansion of Iterated Stratonovich Stochastic Integrals of Arbitrary Multiplicity Based on Generalized Iterated Fourier Series Converging Pointwise. (arXiv:1801.00784v9 [math.PR] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: The article is devoted to the expansion of iterated Stratonovich stochastic integrals of arbitrary multiplicity $k$ $(kinmathbb{N})$ based on the generalized iterated Fourier series. The case of Fourier-Legendre series as well as the case of trigonotemric Fourier series are considered in details. The obtained expansion provides a possibility to represent the iterated Stratonovich stochastic integral in the form of iterated series of products of standard Gaussian random variables. Convergence in the mean of degree $2n$ $(nin mathbb{N})$ of the expansion is proved. Some modifications of the mentioned expansion were derived for the case $k=2$. One of them is based of multiple trigonomentric Fourier series converging almost everywhere in the square $[t, T]^2$. The results of the article can be applied to the numerical solution of Ito stochastic differential equations. Full Article
si Local Moduli of Semisimple Frobenius Coalescent Structures. (arXiv:1712.08575v3 [math.DG] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: We extend the analytic theory of Frobenius manifolds to semisimple points with coalescing eigenvalues of the operator of multiplication by the Euler vector field. We clarify which freedoms, ambiguities and mutual constraints are allowed in the definition of monodromy data, in view of their importance for conjectural relationships between Frobenius manifolds and derived categories. Detailed examples and applications are taken from singularity and quantum cohomology theories. We explicitly compute the monodromy data at points of the Maxwell Stratum of the A3-Frobenius manifold, as well as at the small quantum cohomology of the Grassmannian G(2,4). In the latter case, we analyse in details the action of the braid group on the monodromy data. This proves that these data can be expressed in terms of characteristic classes of mutations of Kapranov's exceptional 5-block collection, as conjectured by one of the authors. Full Article
si High dimensional expanders and coset geometries. (arXiv:1710.05304v3 [math.CO] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: High dimensional expanders is a vibrant emerging field of study. Nevertheless, the only known construction of bounded degree high dimensional expanders is based on Ramanujan complexes, whereas one dimensional bounded degree expanders are abundant. In this work, we construct new families of bounded degree high dimensional expanders obeying the local spectral expansion property. This property has a number of important consequences, including geometric overlapping, fast mixing of high dimensional random walks, agreement testing and agreement expansion. Our construction also yields new families of expander graphs which are close to the Ramanujan bound, i.e., their spectral gap is close to optimal. The construction is quite elementary and it is presented in a self contained manner; This is in contrary to the highly involved previously known construction of the Ramanujan complexes. The construction is also very symmetric (such symmetry properties are not known for Ramanujan complexes) ; The symmetry of the construction could be used, for example, in order to obtain good symmetric LDPC codes that were previously based on Ramanujan graphs. The main tool that we use for is the theory of coset geometries. Coset geometries arose as a tool for studying finite simple groups. Here, we show that coset geometries arise in a very natural manner for groups of elementary matrices over any finitely generated algebra over a commutative unital ring. In other words, we show that such groups act simply transitively on the top dimensional face of a pure, partite, clique complex. Full Article

si Local mollification of Riemannian metrics using Ricci flow, and Ricci limit spaces. (arXiv:1706.09490v2 [math.DG] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: We use Ricci flow to obtain a local bi-Holder correspondence between Ricci limit spaces in three dimensions and smooth manifolds. This is more than a complete resolution of the three-dimensional case of the conjecture of Anderson-Cheeger-Colding-Tian, describing how Ricci limit spaces in three dimensions must be homeomorphic to manifolds, and we obtain this in the most general, locally non-collapsed case. The proofs build on results and ideas from recent papers of Hochard and the current authors. Full Article
si The classification of Rokhlin flows on C*-algebras. (arXiv:1706.09276v6 [math.OA] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: We study flows on C*-algebras with the Rokhlin property. We show that every Kirchberg algebra carries a unique Rokhlin flow up to cocycle conjugacy, which confirms a long-standing conjecture of Kishimoto. We moreover present a classification theory for Rokhlin flows on C*-algebras satisfying certain technical properties, which hold for many C*-algebras covered by the Elliott program. As a consequence, we obtain the following further classification theorems for Rokhlin flows. Firstly, we extend the statement of Kishimoto's conjecture to the non-simple case: Up to cocycle conjugacy, a Rokhlin flow on a separable, nuclear, strongly purely infinite C*-algebra is uniquely determined by its induced action on the prime ideal space. Secondly, we give a complete classification of Rokhlin flows on simple classifiable $KK$-contractible C*-algebras: Two Rokhlin flows on such a C*-algebra are cocycle conjugate if and only if their induced actions on the cone of lower-semicontinuous traces are affinely conjugate. si Positive Geometries and Differential Forms with Non-Logarithmic Singularities I. (arXiv:2005.03612v1 [hep-th]) By arxiv.org Published On :: Positive geometries encode the physics of scattering amplitudes in flat space-time and the wavefunction of the universe in cosmology for a large class of models. Their unique canonical forms, providing such quantum mechanical observables, are characterised by having only logarithmic singularities along all the boundaries of the positive geometry. However, physical observables have logarithmic singularities just for a subset of theories. Thus, it becomes crucial to understand whether a similar paradigm can underlie their structure in more general cases. In this paper we start a systematic investigation of a geometric-combinatorial characterisation of differential forms with non-logarithmic singularities, focusing on projective polytopes and related meromorphic forms with multiple poles. We introduce the notions of covariant forms and covariant pairings. Covariant forms have poles only along the boundaries of the given polytope; moreover, their leading Laurent coefficients along any of the boundaries are still covariant forms on the specific boundary. Whereas meromorphic forms in covariant pairing with a polytope are associated to a specific (signed) triangulation, in which poles on spurious boundaries do not cancel completely, but their order is lowered. These meromorphic forms can be fully characterised if the polytope they are associated to is viewed as the restriction of a higher dimensional one onto a hyperplane. The canonical form of the latter can be mapped into a covariant form or a form in covariant pairing via a covariant restriction. We show how the geometry of the higher dimensional polytope determines the structure of these differential forms. Finally, we discuss how these notions are related to Jeffrey-Kirwan residues and cosmological polytopes. Full Article

si Gluing curves of genus 1 and 2 along their 2-torsion. (arXiv:2005.03587v1 [math.AG]) By arxiv.org Published On :: Let $X$ (resp. $Y$) be a curve of genus 1 (resp. 2) over a base field $k$ whose characteristic does not equal 2. We give criteria for the existence of a curve $Z$ over $k$ whose Jacobian is up to twist (2,2,2)-isogenous to the products of the Jacobians of $X$ and $Y$. Moreover, we give algorithms to construct the curve $Z$ once equations for $X$ and $Y$ are given. The first of these involves the use of hyperplane sections of the Kummer variety of $Y$ whose desingularization is isomorphic to $X$, whereas the second is based on interpolation methods involving numerical results over $mathbb{C}$ that are proved to be correct over general fields a posteriori. As an application, we find a twist of a Jacobian over $mathbb{Q}$ that admits a rational 70-torsion point. Full Article
si Steiner symmetry in the minimization of the principal positive eigenvalue of an eigenvalue problem with indefinite weight. (arXiv:2005.03581v1 [math.AP]) By arxiv.org Published On :: In cite{CC} the authors, investigating a model of population dynamics, find the following result. Let $Omegasubset mathbb{R}^N$, $Ngeq 1$, be a bounded smooth domain. The weighted eigenvalue problem $-Delta u =lambda m u $ in $Omega$ under homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, where $lambda in mathbb{R}$ and $min L^infty(Omega)$, is considered. The authors prove the existence of minimizers $check m$ of the principal positive eigenvalue $lambda_1(m)$ when $m$ varies in a class $mathcal{M}$ of functions where average, maximum, and minimum values are given. A similar result is obtained in cite{CCP} when $m$ is in the class $mathcal{G}(m_0)$ of rearrangements of a fixed $m_0in L^infty(Omega)$. In our work we establish that, if $Omega$ is Steiner symmetric, then every minimizer in cite{CC,CCP} inherits the same kind of symmetry. Full Article

si Phase Transitions for one-dimensional Lorenz-like expanding Maps. We apply this to prove that quasi-H"older-continuous potentials (see, subsection 2.2 for definition) have at most one equilibrium measure and we construct a family of continuous but not H"older and neither weak H"older continuous potentials for which we observe phase transitions. Indeed, this class includes all H"older and weak-H"older continuous potentials and form an open and [2]. Full Article
si Continuity properties of the shearlet transform and the shearlet synthesis operator on the Lizorkin type spaces. (arXiv:2005.03505v1 [math.FA]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We develop a distributional framework for the shearlet transform $mathcal{S}_{psi}colonmathcal{S}_0(mathbb{R}^2) omathcal{S}(mathbb{S})$ and the shearlet synthesis operator $mathcal{S}^t_{psi}colonmathcal{S}(mathbb{S}) omathcal{S}_0(mathbb{R}^2)$, where $mathcal{S}_0(mathbb{R}^2)$ is the Lizorkin test function space and $mathcal{S}(mathbb{S})$ is the space of highly localized test functions on the standard shearlet group $mathbb{S}$. These spaces and their duals $mathcal{S}_0^prime (mathbb R^2),, mathcal{S}^prime (mathbb{S})$ are called Lizorkin type spaces of test functions and distributions. We analyze the continuity properties of these transforms when the admissible vector $psi$ belongs to $mathcal{S}_0(mathbb{R}^2)$. Then, we define the shearlet transform and the shearlet synthesis operator of Lizorkin type distributions as transpose mappings of the shearlet synthesis operator and the shearlet transform, respectively. They yield continuous mappings from $mathcal{S}_0^prime (mathbb R^2)$ to $mathcal{S}^prime (mathbb{S})$ and from $mathcal{S}^prime (mathbb S)$ to $mathcal{S}_0^prime (mathbb{R}^2)$. Furthermore, we show the consistency of our definition with the shearlet transform defined by direct evaluation of a distribution on the shearlets. The same can be done for the shearlet synthesis operator. Finally, we give a reconstruction formula for Lizorkin type distributions, from which follows that the action of such generalized functions can be written as an absolutely convergent integral over the standard shearlet group. si Semiglobal non-oscillatory big bang singular spacetimes for the Einstein-scalar field system. (arXiv:2005.03395v1 [math-ph]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We construct semiglobal singular spacetimes for the Einstein equations coupled to a massless scalar field. Consistent with the heuristic analysis of Belinskii, Khalatnikov, Lifshitz or BKL for this system, there are no oscillations due to the scalar field. (This is much simpler than the oscillatory BKL heuristics for the Einstein vacuum equations.) Prior results are due to Andersson and Rendall in the real analytic case, and Rodnianski and Speck in the smooth near-spatially-flat-FLRW case. Similar to Andersson and Rendall we give asymptotic data at the singularity, which we refer to as final data, but our construction is not limited to real analytic solutions. This paper is a test application of tools (a graded Lie algebra formulation of the Einstein equations and a filtration) intended for the more subtle vacuum case. We use homological algebra tools to construct a formal series solution, then symmetric hyperbolic energy estimates to construct a true solution well-approximated by truncations of the formal one. We conjecture that the image of the map from final data to initial data is an open set of anisotropic initial data. Full Article

si Type space functors and interpretations in positive logic. (arXiv:2005.03376v1 [math.LO]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We construct a 2-equivalence $mathfrak{CohTheory}^ ext{op} simeq mathfrak{TypeSpaceFunc}$. Here $mathfrak{CohTheory}$ is the 2-category of positive theories and $mathfrak{TypeSpaceFunc}$ is the 2-category of type space functors. We give a precise definition of interpretations for positive logic, which will be the 1-cells in $mathfrak{CohTheory}$. The 2-cells are definable homomorphisms. The 2-equivalence restricts to a duality of categories, making precise the philosophy that a theory is `the same' as the collection of its type spaces (i.e. its type space functor). In characterising those functors that arise as type space functors, we find that they are specific instances of (coherent) hyperdoctrines. This connects two different schools of thought on the logical structure of a theory. The key ingredient, the Deligne completeness theorem, arises from topos theory, where positive theories have been studied under the name of coherent theories. Full Article

si Converging outer approximations to global attractors using semidefinite programming. (arXiv:2005.03346v1 [math.OC]) By arxiv.org Published On :: This paper develops a method for obtaining guaranteed outer approximations for global attractors of continuous and discrete time nonlinear dynamical systems. The method is based on a hierarchy of semidefinite programming problems of increasing size with guaranteed convergence to the global attractor. The approach taken follows an established line of reasoning, where we first characterize the global attractor via an infinite dimensional linear programming problem (LP) in the space of Borel measures. The dual to this LP is in the space of continuous functions and its feasible solutions provide guaranteed outer approximations to the global attractor. For systems with polynomial dynamics, a hierarchy of finite-dimensional sum-of-squares tightenings of the dual LP provides a sequence of outer approximations to the global attractor with guaranteed convergence in the sense of volume discrepancy tending to zero. The method is very simple to use and based purely on convex optimization. Numerical examples with the code available online demonstrate the method. Full Article
si Evaluating the phase dynamics of coupled oscillators via time-variant topological features. (arXiv:2005.03343v1 [physics.data-an]) By arxiv.org Published On :: The characterization of phase dynamics in coupled oscillators offers insights into fundamental phenomena in complex systems. To describe the collective dynamics in the oscillatory system, order parameters are often used but are insufficient for identifying more specific behaviors. We therefore propose a topological approach that constructs quantitative features describing the phase evolution of oscillators. Here, the phase data are mapped into a high-dimensional space at each time point, and topological features describing the shape of the data are subsequently extracted from the mapped points. We extend these features to time-variant topological features by considering the evolution time, which serves as an additional dimension in the topological-feature space. The resulting time-variant features provide crucial insights into the time evolution of phase dynamics. We combine these features with the machine learning kernel method to characterize the multicluster synchronized dynamics at a very early stage of the evolution. Furthermore, we demonstrate the usefulness of our method for qualitatively explaining chimera states, which are states of stably coexisting coherent and incoherent groups in systems of identical phase oscillators. The experimental results show that our method is generally better than those using order parameters, especially if only data on the early-stage dynamics are available. Full Article

si Riemann-Hilbert approach and N-soliton formula for the N-component Fokas-Lenells equations. (arXiv:2005.03319v1 [nlin.SI]) By arxiv.org Published On :: In this work, the generalized $N$-component Fokas-Lenells(FL) equations, which have been studied by Guo and Ling (2012 J. Math. Phys. 53 (7) 073506) for $N=2$, are first investigated via Riemann-Hilbert(RH) approach. The main purpose of this is to study the soliton solutions of the coupled Fokas-Lenells(FL) equations for any positive integer $N$, which have more complex linear relationship than the analogues reported before. We first analyze the spectral analysis of the Lax pair associated with a $(N+1) imes (N+1)$ matrix spectral problem for the $N$-component FL equations. Then, a kind of RH problem is successfully formulated. By introducing the special conditions of irregularity and reflectionless case, the $N$-soliton solution formula of the equations are derived through solving the corresponding RH problem. Furthermore, take $N=2,3$ and $4$ for examples, the localized structures and dynamic propagation behavior of their soliton solutions and their interactions are discussed by some graphical analysis. In this paper we describe, for each $xin E$, the pointwise lower $s$-density $Theta_*^s(mu,x)$ and upper $s$-density $Theta^{*s}(mu, x)$ of $mu$ at $x$. This extends some early results of Feng et al. (arXiv:2005.03265v1 [math.FA]) By arxiv.org Published On :: The problem of minimizing an entropy functional subject to linear constraints is a useful example of partially finite convex programming. In the 1990s, Borwein and Lewis provided broad and easy-to-verify conditions that guarantee strong duality for such problems. Their approach is to construct a function in the quasi-relative interior of the relevant infinite-dimensional set, which assures the existence of a point in the core of the relevant finite-dimensional set. We revisit this problem, and provide an alternative proof by directly appealing to the definition of the core, rather than by relying on any properties of the quasi-relative interior. Our approach admits a minor relaxation of the linear independence requirements in Borwein and Lewis' framework, which allows us to work with certain piecewise-defined moment functions precluded by their conditions. We provide such a computed example that illustrates how this relaxation may be used to tame observed Gibbs phenomenon when the underlying data is discontinuous. The relaxation illustrates the understanding we may gain by tackling partially-finite problems from both the finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional sides. The comparison of these two approaches is informative, as both proofs are constructive. Full Article
si Dynamical Phase Transitions for Fluxes of Mass on Finite Graphs. (arXiv:2005.03262v1 [cond-mat.stat-mech]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We study the time-averaged flux in a model of particles that randomly hop on a finite directed graph. In the limit as the number of particles and the time window go to infinity but the graph remains finite, the large-deviation rate functional of the average flux is given by a variational formulation involving paths of the density and flux. We give sufficient conditions under which the large deviations of a given time averaged flux is determined by paths that are constant in time. We then consider a class of models on a discrete ring for which it is possible to show that a better strategy is obtained producing a time-dependent path. This phenomenon, called a dynamical phase transition, is known to occur for some particle systems in the hydrodynamic scaling limit, which is thus extended to the setting of a finite graph. si Cohomological dimension of ideals defining Veronese subrings. (arXiv:2005.03250v1 [math.AC]) By arxiv.org Published On :: Given a standard graded polynomial ring over a commutative Noetherian ring $A$, we prove that the cohomological dimension and the height of the ideals defining any of its Veronese subrings are equal. This result is due to Ogus when $A$ is a field of characteristic zero, and follows from a result of Peskine and Szpiro when $A$ is a field of positive characteristic; our result applies, for example, when $A$ is the ring of integers. si Optimality for the two-parameter quadratic sieve. (arXiv:2005.03162v1 [math.NT]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We study the two-parameter quadratic sieve for a general test function. We prove, under some very general assumptions, that the function considered by Barban and Vehov [BV68] and Graham [Gra78] for this problem is optimal up to the second-order term. We determine that second-order term explicitly. Full Article
si Generalized Cauchy-Kovalevskaya extension and plane wave decompositions in superspace. (arXiv:2005.03160v1 [math-ph]) By arxiv.org Published On :: The aim of this paper is to obtain a generalized CK-extension theorem in superspace for the bi-axial Dirac operator. In the classical commuting case, this result can be written as a power series of Bessel type of certain differential operators acting on a single initial function. In the superspace setting, novel structures appear in the cases of negative even superdimensions. In these cases, the CK-extension depends on two initial functions on which two power series of differential operators act. These series are not only of Bessel type but they give rise to an additional structure in terms of Appell polynomials. This pattern also is present in the structure of the Pizzetti formula, which describes integration over the supersphere in terms of differential operators. We make this relation explicit by studying the decomposition of the generalized CK-extension into plane waves integrated over the supersphere. Moreover, these results are applied to obtain a decomposition of the Cauchy kernel in superspace into monogenic plane waves, which shall be useful for inverting the super Radon transform. si Quasi-Sure Stochastic Analysis through Aggregation and SLE$_kappa$ Theory. (arXiv:2005.03152v1 [math.PR]) By arxiv.org Published On :: We study SLE$_{kappa}$ theory with elements of Quasi-Sure Stochastic Analysis through Aggregation. Specifically, we show how the latter can be used to construct the SLE$_{kappa}$ traces quasi-surely (i.e. simultaneously for a family of probability measures with certain properties) for $kappa in mathcal{K}cap mathbb{R}_+ setminus ([0, epsilon) cup {8})$, for any $epsilon>0$ with $mathcal{K} subset mathbb{R}_{+}$ a nontrivial compact interval, i.e. for all $kappa$ that are not in a neighborhood of zero and are different from $8$. As a by-product of the analysis, we show in this language a version of the continuity in $kappa$ of the SLE$_{kappa}$ traces for all $kappa$ in compact intervals as above. Full Article
si A note on Tonelli Lagrangian systems on $mathbb{T}^2$ with positive topological entropy on high energy level. (arXiv:2005.03108v1 [math.DS]) By arxiv.org Published On :: In this work we study the dynamical behavior Tonelli Lagrangian systems defined on the tangent bundle of the torus $mathbb{T}^2=mathbb{R}^2 / mathbb{Z}^2$. We prove that the Lagrangian flow restricted to a high energy level $ E_L^{-1}(c)$ (i.e $ c> c_0(L)$) has positive topological entropy if the flow satisfies the Kupka-Smale propriety in $ E_L^{-1}(c)$ (i.e, all closed orbit with energy $c$ are hyperbolic or elliptic and all heteroclinic intersections are transverse on $E_L^{-1}(c)$). The proof requires the use of well-known results in Aubry-Mather's Theory. Full Article
si On the Brown-Peterson cohomology of $BPU_n$ in lower dimensions and the Thom map. (arXiv:2005.03107v1 [math.AT]) By arxiv.org Published On :: For an odd prime $p$, we determined the Brown-Peterson cohomology of $BPU_n$ in dimensions $-(2p-2)leq ileq 2p+2$, where $BPU_n$ is the classifying space of the projective unitary group $PU_n$. We construct a family of $p$-torsion classes $eta_{p,k}in BP^{2p^{k+1}+2}(BPU_n)$ for $p|n$ and $kgeq 0$ and identify their images under the Thom map with well understood cohomology classes in $H^*(BPU_n;mathbb{Z}_{(p)})$. si Modeling nanoconfinement effects using active learning. (arXiv:2005.02587v2 [physics.app-ph] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: Predicting the spatial configuration of gas molecules in nanopores of shale formations is crucial for fluid flow forecasting and hydrocarbon reserves estimation. The key challenge in these tight formations is that the majority of the pore sizes are less than 50 nm. At this scale, the fluid properties are affected by nanoconfinement effects due to the increased fluid-solid interactions. For instance, gas adsorption to the pore walls could account for up to 85% of the total hydrocarbon volume in a tight reservoir. Although there are analytical solutions that describe this phenomenon for simple geometries, they are not suitable for describing realistic pores, where surface roughness and geometric anisotropy play important roles. To describe these, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are used since they consider fluid-solid and fluid-fluid interactions at the molecular level. However, MD simulations are computationally expensive, and are not able to simulate scales larger than a few connected nanopores. We present a method for building and training physics-based deep learning surrogate models to carry out fast and accurate predictions of molecular configurations of gas inside nanopores. Since training deep learning models requires extensive databases that are computationally expensive to create, we employ active learning (AL). AL reduces the overhead of creating comprehensive sets of high-fidelity data by determining where the model uncertainty is greatest, and running simulations on the fly to minimize it. The proposed workflow enables nanoconfinement effects to be rigorously considered at the mesoscale where complex connected sets of nanopores control key applications such as hydrocarbon recovery and CO2 sequestration. si Temporal Event Segmentation using Attention-based Perceptual Prediction Model for Continual Learning. (arXiv:2005.02463v2 [cs.CV] UPDATED) By arxiv.org Published On :: Temporal event segmentation of a long video into coherent events requires a high level understanding of activities' temporal features. The event segmentation problem has been tackled by researchers in an offline training scheme, either by providing full, or weak, supervision through manually annotated labels or by self-supervised epoch based training. In this work, we present a continual learning perceptual prediction framework (influenced by cognitive psychology) capable of temporal event segmentation through understanding of the underlying representation of objects within individual frames. Our framework also outputs attention maps which effectively localize and track events-causing objects in each frame. The model is tested on a wildlife monitoring dataset in a continual training manner resulting in $80\%$ recall rate at $20\%$ false positive rate for frame level segmentation. Activity level testing has yielded $80\%$ activity recall rate for one false activity detection every 50 minutes. Full Article
