I write this as news breaks that deaths from coronavirus in Scotland are nearing the four-figure mark, so it is with the proviso that everything in sport, and I mean everything, is an inconsequential matter of trivia at this time that I venture to suggest that some sports in Scotland, and especially rugby union, could do with a little image boost.

Of Note: Classical Music & Cinematography Collide in 'The Moon,' Artosphere's Finale Concert

Musical and cinematic storytelling collide in "The Moon," Artosphere Festival Orchestra's finale concert this Saturday, June 29, at Walton Arts Center . The concert, featuring music from Richard Strauss, John Williams, Debussy and more, pairs live classical music and narration with the George Melies' 1902 silent film “A Trip to the Moon.” Artistic director Francesco Micheli’s vision for "The Moon" project was born from his passion to explain music in other ways. “We try to build a journey by means of the music. We can say that we are on the Artosphere airlines, able to make an incredible journey between the starts and on the moon,” he said. In addition to representing women in music, “Holes in the Sky” also served to support human welfare efforts, including PLAN International to support impoverished children. “These are stories about the power of the expressive urge, the creative urge, to come forward,” Downes says about the potential of music. “It will come forward, despite anything else trying to constrain it.” Downes will represent women’s contributions to the past, present and future of American music by performing music from “Holes in the Sky” 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art as part of the Van Cliburn Concert Series . Rana Ayyub on India’s Crackdown on Muslims

In August, India suspended the autonomy of the state of Kashmir, putting soldiers in its streets and banning foreign journalists from entering. Dexter Filkins, who was working on a story about Narendra Modi, would not be deterred from going. To evade the ban, he sought the help of an Indian journalist, Rana Ayyub. Ayyub had once gone undercover to reveal the ruling party’s ties to sectarian and extrajudicial violence against the Muslim minority. In a conversation recorded last week, Filkins and Ayyub tell the story of how they got into Kashmir and describe the repression and signs of torture that they observed there. Ayyub’s book “Gujarat Files,” about a massacre of Muslims in Gujarat, has made her a target of Hindu nationalists; one of the book’s translators was killed not long ago. She spoke frankly with Filkins about the emotional toll of living in fear of assassination.

A Trombonist Wonders When An Audience Will Gather To Hear Music

"You can't really have a concert if you can't have an audience," David Roode muses. His career as a concert trombonist in Cincinnati went abruptly on hold when stay-at-home orders took effect in March. "I had months of gigs that were just canceled." Roode and his wife, a concert pianist, have done some recording while on lockdown in Cincinnati. And they've tapped into savings they typically rely on during the slower summer months. "If I kind of burn through my summer money now, then when the summer comes and there's no work, there might be more of a problem," Roode says. He's done some soul-searching about the role of a musician during a pandemic. "The medical professionals are the ones who are on the front lines who are really making a difference," Roode says. But he thinks artists and performers will eventually be in demand again. "I really think when this is all over, people are going to want to go hear concerts and they're going to want to have that experience." Read more stories

The CMI Music Group has worked closely with companies such as: Apple, Honda, Samsung, BBC, ABC, ITV, New Show Media, Massive Films, Rickety Shack Films, H&M, Reebok, WalMart, Seat, Costa and more.

Payouts and rights: If selected you will keep 100% of your rights, royalties and payments dependent on the amount of times the tracks are used. Payout is $5,000 per song, per use (defined as one campaign sector) and is dependent on usage and length of use. The license is Non-Exclusive. If selected the songs will be passed to the company and they will have the final say, CMI Music Group will be on hand to help the artist all the way through the process with chosen artists (at no financial charge).

All songs submitted will be considered for all the other opps we have.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND US TRACKS TO OUR FACEBOOK, SOUNDCLOUD, EMAIL, LINKEDIN OR ANY SOCIAL MEDIA.

Get 5 figures for your music placed with 2 huge video game companies

GET PAID BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!!!

One of the few industries not suffering right now is gaming. In fact, video game companies are selling more titles than ever.

2 of the biggest game publishers who release on Playstation, Xbox and mobile are both looking for new music for a number of upcoming titles.

We can’t give the names of the game titles (for obvious reasons) but in total over 100 tracks are required across them, straddling pretty much all musical genres.

We are happy to consider Rock, Indie, Pop, Hip Hop / Rap, Christian, Blues, Jazz, Easy listening, Romantic Ballads, Metal, New Age / World, R&B, Country, Industrial, EDM, Beats, Funk, Classical and Soundtrack. Covers are also acceptable as are partial, cues and instrumentals as well as full tracks with vocals of course!

We will take demos too but if selected they will need to be completed for delivery this year.

This is a 100% NON exclusive deal so you are not giving up any rights. Payments will range from one or two thousand dollars per track right up to 5 figure deals and each track you select will be considered for numerous titles.

So, if you want to be considered for this opp then all you need to do is SUBMIT TODAY!

Finally we have said this before but it is SUPER IMPORTANT. We will happily take and include multiple tracks from the same artist, band or writer, so feel free to submit multiple pieces. And as always, a track being previously selected, currently on hold, or not by us does NOT exclude it from this opp. This opp is totally new and you have JUST as much chance to be placed as anyone. In fact, more often if we have heard a track before, it is likely to resonate due to the familiarity. So, let’s hear your amazing tracks, old and new!

Last date for submissions is the 27th of May 2020.

The Man, The Myths And The Music Of 'Hamilton'

Today we're talking about one of the biggest sensations in the history of American theatre: "Hamilton: An American Musical." Composer, lyrisict, and preformer Lin-Manuel Miranda was inspired to create "Hamilton" after reading Ron Chernow's 800-page biography of Alexander Hamilton. Fans of the mega-hit "Hamilton" have waited impatiently for a chance to see the show here in Georgia—and now that opportunity has arrived . The Tony-winning musical is now at the Fox Theatre through June 11. Our guests today are David Sehat , an Associate Professor of American History at Georgia State University, and Rick Lombardo , a seasoned theatrical director who is now the chairman of the Kennesaw State University theater department. Sehat tells us about Alexander Hamilton’s place in history and weighs the musical’s accuracy. Plus, Lombardo and Sehat discuss Miranda's decision to cast actors of color in roles as Founding Fathers. This is a music-packed coversation about the man, the myths, and the music
