Low oil prices and monetary easing are boosting growth in the world’s major economies, but the near-term pace of expansion remains modest, withabnormally low inflation and interest rates pointing to risks of financial instability, according to the OECD’s latest Interim Economic Assessment.

Mr. Gurría delivered a keynote speech at a conference on policy options for more investment in Germany and Europe. He also met Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, Vice Chancellor of Germany, as well as other high-level German officials and Kristalina Georgieva, EU-Vice President and Commissioner for Budget and Staff.

The OECD welcomes the laws of the National Anti-corruption System that were approved by the Parliament on June 16, 2016 and enacted on July 18, 2016, clearing the way for one of the key pillars of Mexico’s structural reform agenda. The promulgation of these laws substantially transforms the anti-corruption architecture of Mexico by putting in place measures that the OECD considers effective.

The exceptional turnout at the 2013 OECD/Japan Seminar in Tokyo this week, where over 300 participants from over 20 countries discussed global strategies for higher education, shows that the seminar had exactly the right agenda at exactly the right time. I asked myself how many people would have turned up had this seminar been held five years ago; or whether five years ago, Japan would have ventured to take the lead on this theme.
