The present disclosure relates to internal combustion engines in general. Some embodiments of the teaching may include valve units for use in a fuel tank system of an internal combustion engine having a fuel tank and a storage element for temporary storage of hydrocarbons, wherein the fuel tank and the storage element are connected together such that the hydrocarbons which gasify out of a fuel in the fuel tank are stored in the storage element. They may include a purge air pump connected to the storage element and conveying fresh air to the storage element, thereby releasing the stored hydrocarbons and supplying them to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine and a movable adjustment element with at least two positions. The first position may connect a pressure side of the purge air pump to a first line and a suction side of the purge air pump to a second line. The second position may connect the pressure side to the second line and the suction side to the first line.

An external photovoltaic cell (18) is mounted to the base and an internal photovoltaic cell (34) is mounted in an opposed orientation on a cover (32). The external photovoltaic cell (18) and the internal photovoltaic cell (34) charge a power storage module (52), which powers the plurality of environmental condition sensors (36a, 36b, 36c, 36d, 36e, 36f) and the controller (47).

The trigger event may be embodied as any type of event detectable by the sensor mote such as a trigger signal, particular sensed data, expiration of a reference time period, completion of a task, and so forth. The sensor mote may imitate the degradation by, for example, controlling a valve to release a chemical stored in the sensor mote or allow a substance into the sensor mote.

MEMS DEVICE TO SELECTIVELY MEASURE EXCITATION IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS

A method and system for a sensor system of a device is disclosed. The sensor system includes a first MEMS sensor (FMEMS), a second MEMS sensor (SMEMS) and a signal processor (SP). An excitation is imparted to the device along a first axis (FA). The FMEMS has a first primary sense axis (FPSA), moves in response to a component of the excitation along the FA aligned with the FPSA and outputs a first signal proportional to an excitation along the FPSA. The SMEMS has a second primary sense axis (SPSA), moves in response to a component of the excitation along the FA aligned with the SPSA and outputs a second signal proportional to an excitation along the SPSA. The SP combines the first signal and the second signal to output a third signal proportional to the excitation along the FA. The FA, the FPSA and the SPSA have different orientations.

An electronic circuit for amplifying signals with two components in phase quadrature, which includes: a feedback amplifier with a feedback capacitor; a switch that drives charging and discharging of the feedback capacitor; an additional capacitor; and a coupling circuit, which alternatively connects the additional capacitor in parallel to the feedback capacitor or else decouples the additional capacitor from the feedback capacitor. The switch opens at a first instant, where a first one of the two components assumes a first zero value; the coupling circuit decouples the additional capacitor from the feedback capacitor in a way synchronous with a second instant, where the first component assumes a second zero value.

An optical circuit includes solid state photonics. The optical circuit includes a phased array of solid state waveguides that perform beamsteering on an optical signal. The optical circuit includes a modulator to modulate a bit sequence onto the carrier frequency of the optical signal, and the beamsteered signal includes the modulated bit sequence. The optical circuit includes a photodetector to detect a reflection of the beamsteered optical signal. The optical circuit autocorrelates the reflection signal with the bit sequence to generate a processed signal.

METHOD OF FABRICATING AN INTEGRATED CIRCUIT WITH A PATTERN DENSITY-OUTLIER-TREATMENT FOR OPTIMIZED PATTERN DENSITY UNIFORMITY

The present disclosure provides one embodiment of an IC method. First pattern densities (PDs) of a plurality of templates of an IC design layout are received. Then a high PD outlier template and a low PD outlier template from the plurality of templates are identified. The high PD outlier template is split into multiple subsets of template and each subset of template carries a portion of PD of the high PD outlier template. A PD uniformity (PDU) optimization is performed to the low PD outlier template and multiple individual exposure processes are applied by using respective subset of templates.

SUPERCONDUCTING NANOWIRE AVALANCHE PHOTODETECTORS WITH REDUCED CURRENT CROWDING

Superconducting nanowire avalanche photodetectors (SNAPs) have using meandering nanowires to detect incident photons. When a superconducting nanowire absorbs a photon, it switches from a superconducting state to a resistive state, producing a change in voltage that can be measured across the nanowire. A SNAP may include multiple nanowires in order to increase the fill factor of the SNAP's active area and the SNAP's detection efficiency. But using multiple meandering nanowires to achieve high fill-factor in SNAPs can lead to current crowding at bends in the nanowires. This current crowding degrades SNAP performance by decreasing the switching current, which the current at which the nanowire transitions from a superconducting state to a resistive state. Fortunately, staggering the bends in the nanowires reduces current crowding, increasing the nanowire switching current, which in turn increases the SNAP dynamic range.

A pollution mitigation system is disclosed. The system can include a valve forming a passage the valve installable to form an orifice in a storm drain retention chamber that passes storm water into a conduit of a storm water management system. The valve having a stem connected to a closure member that can plug the orifice. The valve can have a spring loaded actuator that can move the closure member into a closed position. The system can also include a node such as a wireless sensor node or a mote that has sensors, a transceiver, an antenna, a microcontroller, memory, an energy source and at least one output to control movement of the closure member via the preloaded actuator. The node can have an output that provides the stimulus to the preloaded actuator to cause the preloaded actuator to move the closure member to a position that obstructs the passage in response to either the sensor or a transmission from a mobile telephone such as a cell phone or a smartphone.

Methylated Peptides Derived from Tau Protein and their Antibodies for Diagnosis and Therapy of Alzheimer's Disease

In sporadic Alzheimer's disease, neurofibrillary lesion formation is preceded by extensive post-translational modification of the microtubule associated protein tau. Immunoassays have been developed recently that detect tau in biological specimens, thus providing a means for pre-mortem diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, which has remained elusive. These assays have been improved by the analysis of relevant post-translational modifications, such as phosphorylation, however opportunity for improvement remains. The present invention addresses this issue by disclosing synthetic methylated peptides derived from the tau protein of paired helical filaments and non-diseased control brain. Alzheimer's disease specificity is provided by the presence or absence of methyl moieties on lysine residues and differences between mono-, di-, and tri-methylation. The methylated peptide is useful as an antigen and a binding partner for identifying compounds that interact with the peptide and the methylated tau protein, including antibodies that can distinguish non-diseased brain from that affected by Alzheimer's disease. The resulting antibodies are useful diagnostically and therapeutically. The compounds that specifically bind to methylated tau proteins are useful for eliminating abnormally methylated tau.

Rework grid array interposer with direct power

A rework grid array interposer with direct power is described. The interposer has a foundation layer mountable between a motherboard and a package. A heater is embedded in the foundation layer to provide local heat to reflow solder to enable at least one of attachment or detachment of the package. A connector is mounted on the foundation layer and coupled to the heater and to the package to provide a connection path directly with the power supply and not via the motherboard. One type of interposer interfaces with a package having a solderable extension. Another interposer has a plurality of heater zones embedded in the foundation layer.

A wiring device includes a housing that encloses a line voltage port and a low-voltage port for providing power to at least one removable load. The removable load can couple to a connector PCB. An electrical energy receiving end capable of overvoltage protection and a wireless electrical energy transmission device are provided. An electrical energy receiving coil is divided into a first receiving coil and a second receiving coil, so that under normal operation the first receiving coil and the second receiving coil jointly resonate with an impedance matching network to receive energy. When the electrical energy receiving end has an overvoltage, the first receiving coil and the impedance matching network (or the second receiving coil and the impedance matching network) form a loop, and due to the impedance mismatch, the energy received by the electrical energy receiving end is greatly reduced to solve the problem of overvoltage at the electrical energy receiving end.

A flexible circuit board includes a first circuit substrate, a second circuit substrate and a bonding layer. DIRECT CHIP ATTACH USING EMBEDDED TRACES

A circuit board upon which to mount an integrated circuit chip may include a first interconnect zone on the surface of the circuit board having first contacts with a first pitch, and a second interconnect zone, surrounding the first zone, having second contacts or traces with a second pitch that is smaller than the first pitch. The first contacts may have a design rule (DR) for direct chip attachment (DCA) to an integrated circuit chip. The first contacts may be formed by bonding a sacrificial substrate having the first contacts to a surface of the board; or by laser scribing trenches where the conductor will be plated to create the first contacts. Such a board allows DCA of smaller footprint processor chips for devices, such as tablet computers, cell phones, smart phones, and value phone devices.

An enhanced airflow chassis system includes a component chassis that defines a chassis enclosure including a chassis entrance and component slots. First component carriers are mounted to first components and positioned in each of the component slots. Each first component carrier defines first component carrier airflow apertures that direct airflow entering the chassis entrance to the first component mounted to that first component carrier. A backplane located in the chassis enclosure opposite the component slots from the chassis entrance defines backplane airflow apertures and includes a component connector located adjacent each of the component slots that is connected to the first component mounted to the component carrier positioned in that component slot. A chassis venting member positioned between at least two of the component slots defines chassis venting member airflow apertures that direct airflow entering the chassis entrance through the chassis enclosure to a subset of the backplane airflow apertures.

A one-way continuous coolant flowpath that includes: an intake section that comprises an upstream port connected to the compressor discharge cavity and a downstream port formed through one of the inboard and outboard sidewalls; an outtake section that comprises a downstream port connected to the staged injector and an upstream port formed through the same one of the inboard and outboard sidewalls; and a cooling circuit extending through an interior of the airfoil of the stator blade and connecting to the downstream port of the intake section and the upstream port of the outtake section.

Improved Accumulator Circuit for Towed Implements

An apparatus and a system directed to an improved hydraulic circuit for use on implements powered by separate motorized vehicle such as a tractor. The apparatus and system include an implement, such as a bale processing or stacking device, configured with wheels to be a towed vehicle, with the towed vehicle configured to be conveyed by a tow vehicle. Additionally, a hydraulic pump on the tow vehicle is coupled to one or more accumulators on the towed device to provide hydraulic power at varying rates as needed by one or more mechanical operations of the implement vehicle. A hydraulic circuit including check and block valves in concert with a pressure switch on the implement device obtains hydraulic power from the tow vehicle from a hydraulic pump located on the tow vehicle via one or more hydraulic transfer lines from the tow vehicle to the implement.

A system includes a gas turbine system having a turbine combustor, a turbine driven by combustion products from the turbine combustor, and an exhaust gas compressor driven by the turbine. The exhaust gas compressor is configured to compress and supply an exhaust gas to the turbine combustor. The gas turbine system also has an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The EGR system is configured to recirculate the exhaust gas along an exhaust recirculation path from the turbine to the exhaust gas compressor. The system further includes a main oxidant compression system having one or more oxidant compressors. The one or more oxidant compressors are separate from the exhaust gas compressor, and the one or more oxidant compressors are configured to supply all compressed oxidant utilized by the turbine combustor in generating the combustion products.

GAS TURBINE ENGINE AIRFOIL

A gas turbine engine includes a combustion section arranged between a compressor section and a turbine section that extend in an axial direction. A fan section is arranged upstream from the compressor section. An airfoil is arranged in one of the fan section, the compressor section and the turbine section. The airfoil includes pressure and suction sides extending in a radial direction from a 0% span position at an inner flow path location to a 100% span position at an airfoil tip. The airfoil has a leading edge that is projected onto a plane from various views and the plane is perpendicular to a viewing direction which corresponds to the various views. The plane is parallel with the axial direction in a 0° view. The various views include the 0° view which projects into an axial plane in the axial direction. A 90° view projects into a tangential plane in a tangential direction normal to the axial direction and views between the 0° and 90° views. The airfoil has a maximum leading edge projection in a 20° to 40° view. The radial direction is normal to the axial and tangential directions.

An airfoil includes an airfoil body including a first side wall and a second side wall that is spaced apart from the first side wall. A longitudinally elongated rib connects the first side wall and the second side wall and divides a cavity into a forward section and an aft section. The longitudinally elongated rib includes at least one opening fluidly connecting the forward section and the aft section of the cavity. The opening is located in a lateral central portion of the longitudinally elongated rib with regard to the longitudinal axis such that first and second sections of the longitudinally elongated rib bound respective lateral sides of the at least one opening. The opening defines a maximum dimension along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. DESICCANT AIR CONDITIONING METHODS AND SYSTEMS

A desiccant air conditioning system for treating an air stream entering a building space, including a conditioner configured to expose the air stream to a liquid desiccant such that the liquid desiccant dehumidifies the air stream in the warm weather operation mode and humidifies the air stream in the cold weather operation mode. The conditioner includes multiple plate structures arranged in a vertical orientation and spaced apart to permit the air stream to flow between the plate structures. Each plate structure includes a passage through which a heat transfer fluid can flow. Each plate structure also has at least one surface across which the liquid desiccant can flow. The system includes a regenerator connected to the conditioner for causing the liquid desiccant to desorb water in the warm weather operation mode and to absorb water in the cold weather operation mode from a return air stream.

A controller estimates a value of the first operating parameter at the position where the first measuring device is mounted on the refrigerant line, and the controller determines whether the estimated first operating parameter is within a threshold percentage of the switching value.
