Around 27% of the total number of persons who have been issued passes for transit from other states have crossed over to the state through the six checkposts in the state till 5pm on Thursday.

At least three lakh small-scale retail merchants in the state are facing serious threat to their businesses, including imminent closure of their establishments, according to an analysis by Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES). The Samithi also demanded immediate intervention of the state and central governments and announce adequate financial packages.

The government is exploring the possibility of amending the quarantine guidelines for NRKs and for those who are coming from the red zones in other states. The discussion on amending the guidelines happened during the review meeting here on Friday.

Social determinants of health—the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age—have gained increasing interest among policymakers and practitioners as they struggle to improve the value and quality of U.S. health care.

In order to improve patients’ overall health and well-being, we need better information about their social determinants of health – the social, behavioral, and environmental factors – which influence the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

With their multi-faceted understanding of the communities in which they operate, community-based organizations bring a valuable lens that could help health systems learn how certain social services received in the community affect health, and how other factors may dampen an intervention’s effect.

Educators hold the keys to unlocking a brighter future for their students, whether engaging with parents, creating a supportive environment that values equity and inclusion, or improving instruction.

Over the past few weeks, chief executives of Unilever, Mondelez, Hershey's Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and Kimberly Clark have said India’s Covid-19 lockdown protocols had led to severe supply chain disruptions and labour shortages, hurting business in the key market.

The return of migrant workers to West Bengal has become another flashpoint between the Centre and the TMC-led state government with home minister Amit Shah alleging that the state government is not allowing special trains. However, the TMC government accused the Centre of "lying" and said they have planned eight trains to ferry migrants.

The Indian Railways has operated 302 ‘Shramik Special' trains since May 1 and ferried home more than 3 lakh migrants stranded in various parts of the country amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown, officials said. The national transporter has planned to operate 47 trains on Saturday, out of which 34 trains have already departed, they said.
