The New Jersey Youth Symphony Jazz Orchestra and Charles Mingus Combo are among twelve finalist ensembles in the 12th Annual Charles Mingus Festival & High School Competition, February 14-17

The New Jersey Youth Symphony performs works by women composers: Yvonne Desportes, Ann Holler, Julia Perry and Florence Price on Sunday, January 26 at Princeton University.

Two NJYS ensembles were awarded the Mingus Spirit Award, Best Trombone Section, and three Outstanding Soloist awards.

With less than two weeks to switch gears from producing a day-long concert event to an afternoon of performances on the video conferencing platform Zoom, NJYS managed to rally its community to come together despite social distancing.

A rare side-by-side concert of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite performed by the NJYS Youth Symphony alongside Duke Ellington's jazz rendition performed by the NJYS Jazz Orchestra.
