Для блокировки было использовано заявление о нарушении действующего в США Закона об авторском праве в цифровую эпоху (DMCA). Программа Popcorn Time предоставляет удобный интерфейс для поиска и просмотра видео в потоковом режиме, размещённого в различных BitTorrent-сетях, не дожидаясь его полной загрузки на компьютер (по сути это открытый BitTorrent-клиент со встроенным мультимедийным проигрывателем). thu Kathua gang rape: Artists on Instagram react to the crime in a quieter way By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 18 Apr 2018 11:15:57 GMT The eight-year-old's name floats about in your head like a fly - not so long ago, buzzing around insouciantly - fallen into a cup of tea gone stale and cold. A child, who would have perhaps stared at you with demurred confusion were you to read the chargesheet for her abduction, rape, and murder to her. "Myean beyni! Emuk matlab kya chu may wann te (My sister! Tell me what does that mean)," she would have asked in Kashmiri. The case sparked widespread national outrage, and social media was taken by storm. However, amid much of the hammering that has taken place after the Kathua rape, a relatively quieter means of dissent surfaced in the form of art on Instagram. Meet its makers. Orijit Sen,A veteran artist based in Delhi"I had been hearing things but I was busy with deadlines so I wasn't aware of all the details until I took a break. When I read about the case and the chargesheet, it made me sick, but then I saw her photograph and it left a deep impact. It haunted me. I added the horse because I read that she had been abducted when she was out herding horses. It was like her guardian spirit. The wildflowers in her hand signify flowers she may have collected and the meadows around, because I read that playing in the meadows was her favourite thing to do. The shadows on her face are to obscure her identity and in all, I was just trying to capture the vulnerability and innocence of a child her age. I think to me, the image portrays a child of the meadow, returned," he explains. Abhilash Menon, visual artist and illustrator from Mumbai"When the agony gets too much, the voice inside me takes over. The hands of a criminal are always eager to touch flesh, with insane brutality. Such criminals don't shy away from wearing the mask of cast, creed, colour, religion or politics - as depicted by the five fingers in the image - but when the masks come off, they are all the same. The five fingers here are in the shape of the male genitalia, establishing the mindset of such criminals - decadent and unbeknownst to human values and pain. Irrespective of their background, they should be delivered the harshest common punishment, so that others abhor an act such as this. Punish these delinquents and bring peace to the soul of that little girl." Sourabh Basu,Student and Kolkata-based graphic designer"My illustration focuses on the multiple thoughts running through her head in the moments before her death. She might have cried, struggled in pain, the pitch of her voice might have been unbearable. She might have cried out for her mother, hence the text 'Ma'. But it also depicts that she was in a temple, a goddesse's shrine, which to most of us is also an abode of the mother. In those last minutes, she must have been filled with hatred toward the world and its cruelty." Satish Acharya,Well-known Kundapur-based cartoonist"I couldn't believe that people could be so cruel to an eight-year-old. Her thoughts started haunting me. I was saddened to see that some people were shamelessly defending the rapists. I did a series of three cartoons. The first one was about how the little girl is receiving so much love from us, but what she deserves more is justice. The next two panels are about how nothing has changed since the brutal Delhi gang rape. In spite of a revised law named after the victim, rapes continue to be used as a tool to scare and hurt women, to settle political scores, to impose age-old gender biases and caste hierarchy. What was also worrying was how divided the country was unlike in the case of Nirbhaya which was protested in one voice." Saira Khan,Toronto-based Health Studies and Psychology student"This artwork is not only dedicated to the eight-year-old, but to every child who has been a victim of rape and physical and psychological harm. The news of the Kathua rape reminded me of Zainab, a six-year-old Pakistani girl who was raped and murdered in January. The illustration is that of a faceless and nameless girl and the hashtag #Justicefor, has been left incomplete to depict that in a society where rape and violence against women is ingrained, one name can soon be replaced with another. The shards represent brutality and crimes against women and children. The use of red paint is to depict the urgency of the message," she explains. thu Notebook Movie Review: Children steal the thunder from newbies By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 30 Mar 2019 01:43:43 GMT NotebookU/A: RomanceDir: Nitin KakkarCast: Zaheer Iqbal, Pranutan BahlRatings: I, for one, am not of the belief that remakes are a bad thing. If made well, they can stand their ground and even shine, in some cases, better than the original. Given that Notebook is directed by Nitin Kakkar (the man behind the luminous gem Filmistaan), I had a fair share of expectations, despite the underwhelming trailer. Kakkar's powerful storytelling in the unassuming Filmistaan played in my mind as I walked in to watch Notebook, an adaptation of the Thai film, The Teacher's Diary that released in 2014. It's not a good sign when, in a love story, children steal your heart over the lead pair. Individually, both debutants Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl sparkle, but they meet only at the fag end of the film. Kakkar draws out adequate performances from both, playing to their strengths, using the naivety of the novices to build on some screen charm. But with so much solo heavy lifting and a wobbly screenplay in tow, Kakkar delivers far short of what he is capable of. Watch the trailer here: As a plus, the film uses the picturesque settings of Kashmir, blending it with good music. The story, much like the original, traces the unlikely love life of Firdaus (Bahl) and Kabir (Iqbal). She leaves behind a notebook full of sketches and doodles; he is her replacement in a school where they teach. The notebook becomes a source of hope for Kabir, who connects deeply with her over the pages. She is an unusual teacher in an abusive relationship. As Kabir struggles to bond with the children, the notebook comes handy. The rest of the film paves the way to their final interaction. Kakkar remains faithful to the original design, transporting his viewers into a world of innocence. It is concerning that the director never delves deep into the problems of the state, bringing forth its elements for a pure cosmetic use. A child with a fundamentalist father is a needless addition to the plot. Kabir's former job as a soldier, and his Kashmiri pandit background, also do little to add to the larger plot. It's a balanced view, but not a bold one; too simplistically handled, which is unlike Kakkar's risque style. Watch it for the adorable kids, and if you are excited about star children in general, Pranutan is a good deal as a first timer. thu Mumbai Diary: Thursday Dossier By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 29 Apr 2020 23:38:09 GMT Sound of silence With air and noise pollution levels down, the Common Man at a Sion signal has nothing but the virus to fear. Pic/Ashish Raje Time to speak up The lockdown has once again put several women's issues like domestic abuse, personal freedom and financial security in focus. To open up conversations around the same in the context of the lockdown, Penguin Random House India has started a weekly Facebook live series called #SpeakUp, hosted by journalist Pragya Tiwari. It will have speakers like Kavita Krishnan, Puja Mehra, Samra Zafar and Shiromi Pinto. Highlighting the fact that one of the greatest inequalities in India is along the lines of gender, Tiwari said, "The series will bring to the fore voices of women and issues the world is confronted with through their lens." Mumbai: For better or verse Writers and poets across the world have been responding to the current state of affairs in myriad ways. Like his colleagues, Murzban F Shroff, author of Breathless in Bombay, too, decided to look at the way his city is changing, which he encapsulated in a poem. "It is on the Coronavirus, and also reflects my love for the city and captures its now desolate state," Shroff said, sharing his poem with us. Living Life CapsizedI walk out into my capsized cityemptied of traffic, emptied of life, and I seedogs lounging belly-up and cats tread fearlesslyand I see layers of bird-poo on the top of carswhose owners might have once fought over parking spots I walk out into my capsized city and I seea family of four within their 11ft x 14ft shantyI see the bleakness on their faces, the torpor in their limbsI see this because their door is open and there is no windowand there is a kerosene stove aflame on which something is cookingand that is the only sign of life, really,in that prison of unforeseen circumstances I walk out into my capsized city, a lone explorer of sortsand I see the reproachful half-faces of street-cleanersas they plunge their gloved hands into large eco-friendly litterbinsand drag out empty boxes of chocolates, cereals, cookies, porridge…Someone has eaten, and eaten well! I walk out into my abandoned city and I feel abandoned myselfThe doctor's clinic is locked, the stores are shutteredThe temple bells are silent, the deity glowers in the darkthere is no one left to do the invocation, no one leftto clank the bells, then make some request I walk out into my abandoned city and I have never felt saferThe earthmovers have fallen silentThe half-built structures sit like shell-shocked sentinelsThe plots on which they stand have come to resemble graveyardsdespite what the brochures say, what they once promised I circle my capsized city, warily, softly, respectfullyjust to remind myself of all that existed hereall that once traded in the name of good fortuneand is now in hiding, now in exilea museum of squandered opportunities. Look who's got wings to fly Kunal Kamra is talking about flying again, on Twitter. But this time, when all airlines in the country are grounded to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, Kamra's flight ban has come to an end. "From what I understand, the flying ban that was imposed on January 28 should have ended on April 28," he told this diarist. He continues to find humour in the situation, as he has before, and added, "My three-month airline ban has been lifted; now waiting for the airlines to fly." All for India In order to keep the country entertained during these trying times and raise money for the PM CARES fund, YouTube will host a day-long digital event in association with over 100 creators, musicians, actors and comedians, who will live-stream performances from their homes today. Singer Benny Dayal, who will be part of the show, said, "It will be a special concert as it brings together hundreds of artistes to rally behind those who are making sure that we are safe. The phrase 'one nation' speaks a lot. It's a toned-down version of the concerts that we are used to, but it's fun." Log on to @LitliveMumbai on Instagram to catch the live session at 5 pm today. Apurva Purohit The vampire is coming back So far we've heard Bella Swan's side of the story in the Twilight series. More than a decade since she wrote the first book in the series, author Stephenie Meyer has penned down Edward Cullen's version in the companion novel, Midnight Sun, which will hit stores in India in August. The book explores Edward's past, what meeting Bella meant to him, and his journey. "It feels strange to be making this announcement when the world is facing a pandemic, and no one really knows what's next. I seriously thought about delaying this announcement until things were back to normal; however, that felt wrong, considering how long those who are eager for this book have already waited. So, I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, after it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while," said Meyer about her upcoming release. A still from the movie Twilight, that is based on Meyer's series When HC put a smile on Vir's face Days after an advocate moved the Delhi High Court (HC) against Vir Das's Netflix show Hasmukh, claiming that it maligned the legal profession, the HC came to the stand-up comic's aid, observing that the essence of democracy is the liberty given to creative artistes. On Wednesday, Das welcomed the order dismissing the advocate's plea and said in a statement, "Yesterday, in the Delhi High Court, in the middle of the pandemic, there was a hearing. A hearing about my show where a fictitious comedian does jokes about a fictitious lawyer... As artistes we are taught to accept feedback humbly, and I do so knowing that my work always has, and will polarise people. But if we can accept that these actions go a little beyond feedback, I hope I've earned the right to respectfully respond." He added that having spent a decade trying to make people laugh, he knows that "comedy, of all genres, does more good than harm." "Offence is taken, not given. I humbly thank the High Court for its support," the comedian signed off. Game for this discussion? Why do we play games? What makes it "fun"? These are some of the questions that filmmaker and co-founder of new media laboratory Memesys, Anand Gandhi, and his friend and co-founder Zain Memon discuss in a video he posted on his YouTube channel on Wednesday. In the video, titled Games: A Natural Learning System, Gandhi and Memon talk about the "evolutionary function of games". "The video is part of a larger series of talks that address the self, the ecosystem and the future of humanity. One major subject that the series covers is human behaviour design through cinema and games. Two talks on these subjects have been released on the channel so far. There are more in the pipeline," Gandhi told this diarist. thu Coronavirus Outbreak: Under-trial inmate, two staff at Arthur Road Jail test positive By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 7 May 2020 07:06:39 GMT An under-trial inmate and two staff at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai have tested positive for Coronavirus. The inmate has been admitted for treatment at JJ Hospital. The jail administration, looking at the seriousness of the matter, got 150 people, including staff and inmates tested, of which results are awaited. According to information received from prison sources on May 2, the inmate, who was accused of murder, collapsed in the jail after which he was admitted to JJ Hospital, Meanwhile, he underwent the Coronavirus test and he was found positive on May 4 as per his reports. The jail administration then got into action and tested 150 people in the jail for the virus, and their reports are awaited. An official of Arthur Road Jail told mid-day, "We had taken measures to prevent coronavirus. After one of the inmates and two jail staff tested positive, we got 150 people in Arthur Jail tested. The report is yet to come." Two jail staff who tested positive have been kept under quarantine. They were earlier sent out for fieldwork. According to the jail sources, if an employee has been sent outside the jail after lockdown, he would not be given in-prison duty again and would be sent on quarantine for 14 days. The jail has been closed down because of the coronavirus outbreak, due to which no new inmates are being accepted in the jail. At such a time, only essentials services workers are allowed inside the jail. As the number of cases in the state is on a surge, the prison department planned some important measures. As the inmates in the prison were prone to get infected, some of the prisoners were temporarily sent out on bail. Also, five prisons in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, and Pune have been closed down due to the pandemic. Catch up on all the latest Crime, National, International and Hatke news here. thu Mini Mathur and Saransh Goila discuss food across TV, web and social media By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 29 Aug 2017 03:37:17 GMT Chef Saransh Goila and TV personality Mini Mathur at Silver Beach Cafe, Juhu. Pics/Pradeep Dhivar The glass walls overlooking a quiet street at Silver Beach Café are misty. Chef Saransh Goila is early and orders a plate of Eggs Benedict, Beetroot Cous Cous Salad and a glass each of orange and carrot juice, choices that TV host Mini Mathur is happy with when she walks in. "The last time we met we were both drunk," Mathur says animatedly. Both TV stars are currently hosting digital food shows. Goila has married his two loves — fitness and food — for his Facebook show Run to Eat (Singapore). Mathur has been cooking with Bollywood stars for her show The Mini Truck. One is a trained chef and the other a home cook, but when they speak, their love for rich traditional food takes over. Sabhnani: How did an erstwhile vegetarian chef move to selling butter chicken?Goila: In Delhi, my vegetarian family was tired of eating sweet paneer. So I smoked the gravy for them. That's how I came up with it. My friends in Mumbai loved it. We are actually Goels, my great-grandfather changed it to 'Goila'. When I was opening Goila Butter Chicken, my dad got calls asking him, 'Can't he just call it Saransh's Butter Chicken?' Once I graduated, I realised you cannot be a chef who is vegetarian.Mathur: Mera butter chicken khaake dekho, hum bhi Dilliwalle hai! I am a Kayasth married to a Hyderabadi. Both the families are very proud of traditional recipes. I hate bastardised versions of food — if someone gave me Szechuan dosa, I'd spit on them! Every Diwali, I pickle six kilos of aloo or chana for achaar. I will make some for you and you can give me butter chicken instead. Sabhnani: Your new shows are shot internationally, though…Mathur: My next show, Mini Me, is about a bad**s mum travelling with her seven-year-old. We went to 15 cities across six countries in Europe in 25 days. It was originally shot for digital viewing, but a channel picked it up.Goila: Run to Eat (Singapore) was originally supposed to be shot in India, but I didn't get support from the state tourism boards. Sabhnani: You must have collected many stories while shooting.Goila: Once, on an uphill trek in Himachal, we saw a tree full of apples. As soon as I plucked one, I slipped. I quickly grabbed a branch or I would have rolled down the hill. Things you do for apples and shots!Mathur: Sunny Leone is such a cool woman. When she shot for my show, she said things like, 'Now let's grind.' I had to control my crew. Sabhnani: Was the shift to digital platforms a natural progression?Mathur: Digital is the future. The problem is figuring out how to monetise it.Goila: Every time I enter a house party, there is a group of people watching something on their phones. My mom wants a Chromecast!Mathur: People are waking up to the fact that watching TV at an appointed time is not necessary. Eggs Benedict, Beetroot Cous Cous Salad and juices arriveGoila: My plate looks beautiful! They have made an effort.Mathur: Do you always shoot your food before you eat? The whole thing of 'let's tuck in yaar' is not happening any more. Sabhnani: The impact of social media is huge...Goila: People explore social media, and not colleges, for learning, which is fine. But one out of 100 people succeeds that way.Mathur: I mostly find positivity on Instagram and YouTube. Twitter is a different universe.Goila: Sometimes you have to choose to ignore it [trolls]. It's also driven by brands and PR.Mathur: Today, you can backslap a star online and say, 'Hey, I don't like your moustache!' Sabhnani: Do looks matter?Goila: I am not the best-looking chef in the country. I generally believe in fitness (I used weigh 93kg). You can't judge a chef by his belly, though.Mathur: If you are good-looking, it can't harm you. Sabhnani: Dilliwallah's take on Mumbai's food?Mathur: I love Maharashtra's coastal cuisine. Mumbai should give up on chaat; vada pav is your thing. The Mughlai scene is better in the north.Goila: The international cuisine spread is better in Mumbai.Mathur: Eat food at the place where it comes from. Don't go asking for vada pavs in Delhi.Quick takes Full Article

"In everyday life, kids get to know only a routinised version of you. But, when you travel, they see the real you. Now, she sees me as someone who can do anything - I am cool!" Mathur and her daughter vowed to stay away from a touristy itinerary, and planned on getting the local flavour right - "so we travelled by train, air, cruise, cycle, and stayed everywhere from a vineyard and a luxury hotel to a youth hostel." Here, she recalls four experiences that she recommends every parent should try with their child. "The main thing to note is that one doesn't need to only go to kid-friendly places to have fun. Try new things and put your children in charge." For example, in Athens, Mathur gave her daughter the map and told her to navigate their way through. "We got lost, but then finding our way was also such an adventure. I now don't look at her as a child, but a best friend." Eat, Eat, EatA lot of this trip centered around food. In Dubrovnik, Croatia, Sairah ate mussels for the first time. Initially, she exclaimed, "I don't eat creatures!" She is a very dal-chawal, vanilla ice cream girl, so I wanted her to try everything. In Rome, I told her to taste all flavours, and then if she still liked vanilla, it would not be because she didn't have options. In Venice, we sat at a farmer's market one day and just sampled cheese and meats all day. And in Barcelona, we ate paella! Cycle through a cityLucca, in Tuscany, is a walled city, surrounded by double walls on all sides. We got one of those adult-and-child bikes and rode all around the city. I had never got a chance in India to teach her to cycle, and so Lucca became that place. The weather was great and the whole experience was an exhilarating one. Living on a VineyardIn Rome, instead of doing the same old things like going to Trevi Fountain, we decided to live on a vineyard in Tarquinia, a tiny old city in Italy. We stayed with a family whose business is to make wines. And then his wife would cook all these different types of pastas for us. Sairah got to taste her first wine as well, as the winemaker said it's a tradition in Italy that the youngest child has to taste the first wine of the harvest. Well, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Whenever Sairah remembers this, she wouldn't have a memory from a textbook, but will recall this from experience. Pizza chase in NaplesWe made a list of the top pizzerias in Naples (the birthplace of the Pizza Margherita) and went to taste each pizza, all in one day. The places were spread out, so we travelled by train. I discovered that my daughter is a Pizza Margherita connoisseur. At one place, I said that I thought the pizza tastes off, and she said yes, the sauce is undercooked!
