Race relations in 2016: much to deplore but plenty to applaud

No one should be complacent about racism but the story is rarely as straightforward as some commentators routinely assert

In my city neighbourhood this summer a man on the run from police custody hit a black woman in the face. Understandably, she reported it as a racial attack. Except it probably wasn’t. The runaway also hit a boy when his mother opened the door and tried to spray another woman’s hair red at a bus stop. He had mental health problems.

Not much harm done in this instance. But it’s one reason why I don’t often write about race relations in modern Britain, though I first did so 50 years ago when many aspects of them were pretty grim.

New - CME ConfirmHub Decommissioning and Functional Transition to CME STP

Effective December 31, 2016, CME ConfirmHub Portal and most features of the CME ConfirmHub API are slated to be decommissioned in order to simplify and harmonize CME Group’s post-trade portfolio management capabilities. To continue to support trade submission and viewing, many CME ConfirmHub features will be transitioned to CME STP.

Post-transition, only Bilateral and Cleared elsewhere trade submission capabilities will be available on CME ConfirmHub API.  The following features will be available on CME STP:

  • Confirmations from CME Group to the Client for Bilateral and Cleared Elsewhere deals
  • A new CME STP User Interface for viewing cleared trade records and trade confirmation letters

Please note:

  • CME ConfirmHub currently supports both exchange and broker-submitted versions of CME cleared trades. To streamline processing and minimize redundant data, CME STP will harmonize around a single exchange version optionally enriched with broker fee data. Enhancements to CME Direct and CME ClearPort API will allow brokers to submit trades for CME clearing which have been enriched with broker fee data.
  • All CME ConfirmHub API messages include a robust set of product reference data attributes. CME STP will support the following:
    • Exchange-defined product codes for all exchange-traded transactions (CME-cleared and cleared-elsewhere).  Comprehensive product reference data to be provided through alternative means by respective exchanges.
    • A robust set of product reference data attributes for Bilateral transactions

Trading Firm and Broker Firm Required Actions:

  • Trading Firms must migrate to CME STP from CME ConfirmHub by the end of the year to retrieve CME Cleared, Bilateral, and Cleared Elsewhere confirmations. See more here.
  • Broker Firms must enrich CME Cleared transactions with broker fees, if applicable, and submit all CME Cleared transactions using either CME Direct or CME ClearPort API. Bilateral and Cleared Elsewhere deals will continue to be submitted via ConfirmHub API. See more here.

For questions or to start the migration process, please contact STP@cmegroup.com, in the U.S. at +1 212 299 2361 and in Europe at +44 20 3379 3797.
