The overall employment rate remained stable since the start of the crisis and stands at 79% (first quarter of 2014), the second highest in the OECD after Iceland, well above the OECD average of 65.6%. As for unemployment, among OECD countries only Japan, Korea, and Norway have lower unemployment rates.

The OECD Working Group on Bribery expresses its serious concern regarding the situation of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (CPC) in Slovenia.

The employment rate in Slovenia fell below the OECD average after the recession and has not recovered yet. In the last quarter of 2016, the OECD average was 61%, while the Slovenian employment rate stood at 58.5% - more than 4 percentage points lower than its 2008 peak.

The OECD Working Group on Bribery is concerned by a request, issued by the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, to open a parliamentary inquiry into corruption prosecutions of a current member of the National Council. The National Assembly, the upper chamber of the Slovenian Parliament, launched the inquiry to investigate what have been alleged to be political motives of the prosecutors and judges involved in these cases.

20/06/2012 - The Slovak Republic must urgently meet its obligations under the Convention it signed 12 years ago and introduce an effective corporate liability regime so that Slovak companies are held accountable for the bribery of foreign public officials in cross-border business deals, says a new OECD report.

The Slovak Republic recovered strongly from the global economic crisis and is weathering well the storm that has struck its main European trading partners. The challenges going forward will be restoring public finances while driving down unemployment and fostering long-term inclusive growth, says the latest Economic Survey.

The Slovak Republic is one of the most dynamic economies in the euro area. The country has continued to converge rapidly towards the living standards of advanced OECD economies. However, the Slovak Republic should continue on its path of reform to achieve balanced, fair and sustainable growth, according to a new OECD report.

The Slovak Republic has become the 27th member of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the leading international forum for bilateral providers of development co-operation.

Unemployment rose substantially in the Slovak Republic as a result of the crisis and has only declined slowly since reaching a peak of 14.8% of the labour force in early 2010. At 13.3% in August 2014, the unemployment rate remains one of the highest among developed countries and is twice as high as the OECD average.
