Voters opposed to Obamacre says it Doesn't go Far Enough!

Some polls showing the -for and -against Obama health care bill are misleading. In some cases, people who might have been in the "in favor" of Obama health care collumn were "opposed" but not because they were against health care reform. They simply didn't think the health care law went far enough by excluding the public option and other more equitable measures that would have caost the average taxpayer less while lessening the intrusion of for-profit health insurance companies.

As it stands, and has been combed through SCOTUS, it's about as far-reaching and beneficial as anything that's come up since FDR's Social Security, and LBJ's Great Society.

Don't be afraid of socialism--we live in a socialist republic. Some on the right would use smoke and mirrors to mae you think our form of government is a democracy--it's certainly not communism, but then neither is China--they are run by dictators who champion entrepreneurial capitalism.

The next best move, ASAP, would be astimulus plan twice the size of the last, instituted by Obama in collabroaion with the Fed. Then we'll see happ days come here again...

Podcasting Is Going Mainstream

Fifteen years after Apple first offered 3,000+ free podcasts on iTunes, the medium has become mainstream.

Basic Facts: According to Edison Research and Triton Digital, there are now 62 million Americans listening to podcasts each week, up from 19 million in 2013. One reason for the growth is the number of choices podcast listeners have today. There are now over 800,000 active podcasts with over 54 million podcast episodes currently available worldwide. Because of a low cost of entry, in the first ten months of 2019, a record 192,000 new podcasts have been launched.

Podcasts Are Going Multilingual

Podcasts have transitioned from niche to mainstream. As Deloitte, Edison, and Nielsen, etc. all agree, audience growth for podcasts has been nothing short of phenomenal over the past year.

The global podcasting market will grow by 30% in 2020 to USD 1.1bn, Deloitte predicted, topping the billion-dollar mark for the first time. Now, a podcast producer can pull in revenue any number of ways, as the same report pointed out; advertising, content marketing, subscriptions, contracts for branded podcasts, events, and so on. All this hinges on audience reach, and a surefire way to widen that is, naturally, to go multilingual.

Podcasting Is Going Mainstream

Because of a low cost of entry, in the first ten months of 2019, a record 192,000 new podcasts have been launched.

Podcast Advertising: Another reason for the growth in podcasting is the potential income a popular podcast can earn from selling advertising. According to the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PriceWaterhouse, ad revenue is expected to reach $679 million this year, increasing to $863 million in 2020 and over $1 billion by 2021. Popular podcasts can charge advertisers between $10 to $50 for every 1,000 listeners, approximately two or three times the ad rate for broadcast radio.

Podcasting Is Still Hot; Google Drops E-Commerce Processing Fees

Podcasting is a relatively small market, closing in on a $1 billion run rate. But the category is on fire right now. The New York Times scooped up Serial Productions for a reported $50 million this week in a creative and strategic alliance with sister company This American Life. Terms of the deal were not disclosed and depend on performance goals. The Times bought podcast studio Audm for $8 million in March and is hiring prominent journalists to host new programs. With Serial, the Times owns the 14th largest podcast production company with roughly 4 million listeners and the iconic Serial franchise that was the first breakout hit. Union Square Ventures also announced on Thursday that it is investing in the podcast studio and ad network Headgum.

New Survey Bears Good News For Spotify And Podcasts, Bad News For Radio

Every year at this time, Edison Research and Triton Digital publish the results of a study called The Infinite Dial that tracks the use of digital audio and related media in the United States. It’s a study that dates back over 20 years—it got its name from the digital radio that was introduced at that time—and is well-respected for the rigor and consistency of its methodology. This year’s study shows how the pandemic has changed digital audio consumption habits. It also shows a few surprises in the streaming music sweepstakes.

The 2021 Infinite Dial results show that the use of online audio—including digital radio, AM/FM internet streams, podcasts, and music services—has plateaued at 68% of Americans ages 12 and up. But there are clear winners and losers, and they don’t merely reflect pandemic-related factors such as people staying at home.

One big winner is podcasting. Growth in podcast listenership shows no signs of tapering off, as monthly listenership continues its linear growth path to 41% penetration, up from 37% in 2020. Growth is particularly high in the 12-34 age bracket, more than half of whom now listen to podcasts regularly (while the 35-54 bracket levels off around 40%). Podcast listenership is also getting more racially diverse, with nonwhite listeners now at 43%, up from 37% last year.

Mark Cuban predicts podcasts and livestreams are only going to become more popular.

Cuban shared his unique insights about the current and future state of  not just podcasting, but the entire media industry. We discussed both legacy media companies and independent creators.

Here are the main takeaways and my thoughts from our conversation:

1. Streaming is the future, and legacy companies need to get on  board in order to survive
2. These days, audio is just as competitive as video because the  barrier to entry is lower and there's no pressure to look nice
3. As new technology emerges, media will continue to evolve — and creators must keep up

3 Google Tools Full of Educational Potential

Online learning has become an ever more popular endeavor for students, professionals, and lifetime learners. Even outside of a conventional online learning environment, learning on the web is an easy and useful way to gain insight into all areas of academia and industry. More and more often, corporate professionals are seeking elearning opportunities to educate their employees on new technologies and subjects. While actual online courses may be the best option in certain circumstances, there are an endless amount of free tools and resources online that can support further learning experiences. These three Google tools are wonderful examples of online educational resources that teachers, administrators, managers, and corporate leaders can use to help educate their teams.

Google News
Current events are an essential aspect of any education at any stage of your life. Knowing what is going on currently locally and globally is very important. Google news provides a way to take a thorough look at the current global, national, and local news topics as you desire. This is a great tool for business and business leaders because you can stay up to date and educated on the current happenings in your area of industry. Encourage your employees to explore Google News and stay informed about the important areas of news that pertain to their job and your company. While this may seem somewhat odd and unproductive, understanding all aspects of the industry or area you are working within is one of the most important things that people can do.

Google Books
With so much of our information retrieved online through websites and forums, it can be easy to overlook the wealth of knowledge that still remains available in actual print books. Of course, books are an obvious place to look for important and reliable material. In our tech-centric world today, we desire all of our work and studying to take place in one location. Google Books is a wonderful tool for exactly this reason. Providing a fairly extensive library of numerous texts on almost any subject, Google Books is a wonderful web resource for students and professionals. The search mechanism for Google Books helps you locate the texts and material that meet your specific needs. This resource library is always growing and so is likely to have or eventually have the text you are looking for. Google Books is a great resource tool for people in management and other leadership roles. You can find books on any topic and share them with your team members while also doing your own personal reading and learning.

Google Videos
Google video is a wonderful learning resource that many people don't actually know about. Allowing a user to search for various educational and informational videos online, Google Videos can be a great tool for corporation leaders and business owners. Videos are a wonderful way to conduct training sessions by modeling behavior and behavior critiques. Video has long been a go-to resource for professional training sessions. Google Video is a great resource because it makes useful video instantly available online. Use this tool to show an Excel training session or show numerous other educational videos. As a manager, you could use Google Video to have your learners watch a video on leadership or coaching and then use the information they learn from the video to create a coaching tactics guide.
