This cohort study assesses the association between use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers with the likelihood of testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This Viewpoint summarizes current shortcomings in direct-to-consumer genetic tests, which often lack clinical utility for consumers, and explains how tests that encompass entire genes and include only genes with well-established risk estimates and medical management guidelines could provide more valuable insight into their disease risk.

Private hospitals in Kolkata will now be allowed to test their outpatients for Covid-19, a move that will help free up beds at isolation units, a major portion of which is now being occupied by suspects. According to a health department decision, that will soon be officially communicated to hospitals, doctors can now recommend a test to a suspect who seeks outpatient consultation. The latter can stay at home till the test result is out and will have the option to either seek admission at a designated Covid hospital or stay in home isolation abiding by the ICMR guidelines if he or she tests positive.

Unlike other BJP-ruled states, it isn't doing away with most existing laws, but seeks to introduce fixed-term employment to facilitate direct hiring of contract labour by firms
