Even though Fr. Evan was a bit under the weather, he hosted another fascinating program dealing with a variety of questions on the Orthodox faith. The program began with an interview with Fr. Jim Kordaris and Stacey Stathulis who told us about a Missions and Evangelism conference coming up in February in Columbus.

Fr. Evan tackles the following subjects: the proper use of Holy Water, dating for Orthodox singles, the richness of Orthodox liturgical music, faith and works, “denying” communion, and the doctrine of election.

Fr Evan answers questions about where in Scripture we are instructed to pray to the saints, guidance on acceptable attire while in church and otherwise, how to forgive those who have grievously offended us, and the Orthodox response to abortion.

Fr. Evan answers question about Orthodox icons and their theological correctness. He shares a personal experience of almsgiving and what he learned about himself regarding the discipline of this virtue. He provides helpful resources on the sacrament of confession and discusses the concept of righteousness as relationship.

Fr. Evan addresses the ways in which lay persons can get involved in church leadership, the role of emotional intelligence and the ability to be honest as church leaders. He also offers advice on prayers for our loved ones who have or are leaving the church and faith. Evan responses to a listener concern regarding animal cruelty within factory raised animals.

What is the Orthodox Church view on the Free Mason Lodge vs Christianity? Hans from Germany has a question regarding a particular prayer. A listener from Australia asks Fr. Evan to recommend reading material on the lives of the saints.

OCMC missionary Nathan Hoppe calls with an update on the work he and his wife are involved in. Melinda Johnson, CEO of Ancient Faith Ministries calls in to congratulate Fr. Evan on his elevation to Protopresbyter. Previous listener calls in to give an update on his experience within the Church. Fr. Evan takes a few minutes to answer email questions.

The British Ecological Society and French Ecological Society invite proposals for symposia sessions at their 2014 Annual Meeting. Symposia sessions at the Annual Meeting highlight some of the most important and timely science in ecology.  They provide the overarching structure and scientific focal point to the meeting.

The topics provide a showcase and forum for the discussion of key ecological questions, vision for the future and encourage integration among disciplines. As ever, timely and well organised submissions from across the breadth of ecology are welcome; however, building on the bi-national meeting and the introduction of the EU Horizon 2020 programme of research funding, we particularly encourage submissions that highlight international and EU focused topics:

The three full days of science can accommodate 18 half day symposia sessions.  Symposia proposals should include one keynote speaker allocated a 30 minute presentation and then five invited speakers, each allocated 15 minute slots.  Time devoted to synthesis and discussion is possible, but at the discretion of the organisers.  In exceptional circumstances, we will consider a full day session.

Proposers are responsible for the speakers submitting their abstracts and registrations on time.
