tak Chintu made a mistake by going to Delhi, says Rakesh Roshan By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 4 May 2020 04:32:00 GMT If there's one friendship in the Hindi film industry that probably lasted the longest, it was of Rakesh Roshan and Rishi Kapoor. Their friendship spanned over four decades and they stayed friends forever and ever. The duo was always accompanied by another veteran star Jeetendra. The trio redefined companionship in cinema. Taking about the unfortunate and untimely demise of Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan spoke to Bollywood Hungama about it and poured his heart out. Speaking about meeting his friend for the last time, he said, "I met him last on March 15 over dinner. Only Chintu (Rishi), his wife Neetu and I were there, and we chatted for nearly three hours. We discussed each other's health. I am a hundred per cent cured, touchwood. Chintu asked me why I didn't start a new film. I told him I will wait until September when my final medical tests will happen. I would rather wait until I'm fully sure. Health comes first. And this is what I told Chintu also." In February, Rishi Kapoor had to travel to Delhi to attend a wedding but Roshan advised him to take rest, but it seems the actor was adamant. Speaking about it, Roshan said, "Both of us had cancer, though different kinds. I am aware of how infection-prone we are. So when Chintu told me about his plans to go to Delhi in February for a wedding I advised him against it. But he still went and had a relapse there. When I met Chintu he admitted he should've listened to me and that he made a mistake by going to Delhi." Roshan and Kapoor's friendship began and eventually blossomed on the sets of their film together, Khel Khel Mein, a thriller that came out in 1975 and also starred Neetu Kapoor. And ever since then, as stated above, they continued staying friends forever. It's nearly impossible to even imagine a bond like this exist in today's competitive times. tak Here is Sanya Malhotra's take on her distinctive experience on shooting for Ludo By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 9 May 2020 11:24:44 GMT Sanya Malhotra is an actress that breathes life into characters on-screen with her impactful performances. She has made a space for herself in the Indian film industry with the awe-striking characters she has played. Not only is she renowned for her acting but she is also well acclaimed for her mesmerizing dance moves! One might say that the actress is a multifaceted package of entertainment. Sanya is to be seen making an engrossing appearance in an upcoming Indian 2020 Hindi language dark anthology comedy film Ludo. The film contains four chapters, each of which revolves around a different story. The actress is known to prepare immensely for all her characters to truly submerge into the depths of the characters, however, with Ludo things were very different as Anurag Basu's brief for Sanya was basically just coming to the set unprepared. It was quite an enriching experience as the actress went on the set completely clueless about the character and that was Anurag's artistic appeal towards weaving the character which Sanya surely aced. This is proof of how the actress takes on different roles and experiments with her characters. Apart from Ludo, she has created quite a huge space for herself in the industry on the basis of her dedication and passion towards acting, owing to which she has bagged roles in upcoming films like 'Shakuntala Devi' where the actress will be playing Anupama Banerjee while sharing the screen with Vidya Balan and Guneet Monga’s Pagglait. tak Pune: Sugar mill takes lead in making ethanol from cane juice By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 14 Feb 2019 10:47:52 GMT A cooperative sugar mill in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra has taken the lead in producing fuel-grade ethanol directly from sugarcane juice in the state, a senior official said on Thursday. The Centre had in July last year allowed sugar mills to manufacture ethanol directly from sugarcane juice or an intermediate product called B-molasses. The decision was taken to help mills divert cane juice for ethanol manufacturing during surplus years. Maharashtra sugar commissionerate's joint director Sanjay Bhosale told PTI that Kolhapur's Tatyasaheb Kore Warana Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd is the only cooperative sugar mill in the state which has started making ethanol from sugarcane juice. Traditionally, in India ethanol is made from 'C-Heavy' molasses, but in July last year, the government gave permission to make ethanol from sugarcane juice and 'B-Heavy' molasses or B-grade molasses, he said. "A miller can do a minimum modification in the equipment to make ethanol from B-Heavy molasses. But in case of ethanol from sugarcane juice, the mill would have to go for changes in the machinery. That is why no sugar mill was ready to go into that direction, but Warana has shown the courage," Bhosale said. The fuel grade ethanol that is produced directly from cane juice is fetching Rs 59 per litre. This is going to be beneficial for the sugar industry that is facing crisis of excess stock of sugar, Warana co-operative group chairman and former minister Vinay Kore said. The Kolhapur-based sugar mill is producing 70,000 litres of ethanol per day, another factory official said. The government allowed fuel-grade ethanol production from sugarcane juice with an aim to increase the earnings of sugar mills and help them in making full and timely payments to farmers. Cane-based ethanol can be produced in three different ways directly from cane juice, from B-grade and C-grade molasses. Molasses is a viscous product obtained from raw sugar during the refining process. Maharashtra is one of the leading sugarcane producing states. Sugar mills in the country were incurring losses as prices fell below the production cost on account of record output as against the annual domestic demand. Full Article
tak Student take Central Railway to Lok Adalat and win By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 18 Feb 2019 05:53:06 GMT Three Pune-based law students who took the Central Railway's Pune division to the Permanent Lok Adalat over the unhygienic premises of Pune railway station, have won their fight. The railways have been ordered to clean up the station premises at the earliest. The students, Devaangini Telang, 20, Shruti Topkar, 20, and Nikhil Joglekar, 23, are pursuing law from the Marathwada Mitra Mandal's Shankarrao Chavan Law College. The railways have now been ordered to provide enough toilets on every platform and maintain cleanliness and safety on a regular basis. Lok Adalat Chairman Sudhir J Kale also directed that the platform, railway tracks and foot overbridges be kept clean. The filthy tracks at Pune Junction Railway Station They three students — Telang, Topkar and Joglekar — were inconvenienced several times by the severe lack of cleanliness at Pune Junction Railway Station. In September 2018 they filed a petition with the help of Advocate Asim Sarode, a human rights activist. Kale and other members of the Permanent Lok Adalat, Ravikumar Bidkar and Pramod Bansode, presided over the matter, and on February 8 this year, the terms of settlement were issued. The terms stated that the station premises would have to be cleaned-up and broken items repaired at the earliest. Why petitionDevaangini said, "The toilets were not maintained well. The tiles in some were broken, the taps were not functioning. In some toilets, the light fixtures were missing and where they were installed, they weren't functioning. The number of toilets was insufficient. Toilets for physically challenged people were often found locked. Garbage was thrown near the drinking water taps as well as on the station premises. Wood and rusted iron planks were lying around on the platform causing an obstruction." Nikhil said, "Utilities for the public were found in unsatisfactory condition. We spoke to the authorities but did not get satisfactory replies. That's why we moved the petition." Terms of settlementChairman Kale has directed the railway authority to take appropriate action at the earliest. Nitin Shinde, the Chief Health Inspector of Pune Railway, who was summoned by the Adalat, said, "We have renovated the electrical wiring. The toilets are also kept clean. We also acted against those spitting on the railway station premises or those who vandalised it." tak Palghar lynching: Woman cop takes charge at Kasa police station By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 21 Apr 2020 05:35:03 GMT A woman officer who was fired upon while probing a Rs 200-crore bank fraud case some weeks ago has been appointed temporary in charge of Kasa police station in Palghar where three people were lynched by a mob late Thursday night. The incident happened near Gadchinchale village on the Dhabadi-Khanvel road under Kasa police station limits. Three people from Kandivali in Mumbai, identified as Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70), Sushilgiri Maharaj (35) and driver Nilesh Telgade (30), were pulled out of their car and beaten to death in the presence of a police team that had rushed to the site to save them. Officials said Palghar Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh appointed Assistant Inspector Siddhava Jaibhaye as Kasa police station incharge after the incumbent API and PSI were placed under suspension for Thursday's incident. Jaibhaye's car took a bullet hit on March 7 at Virar Phata, some days after seven people were arrested for trying to steal Rs 200 crore by hacking the bank account of a corporate entity. Jaibhaye, attached to the Palghar Crime Branch at the time, was instrumental in foiling the hacking bid. Meanwhile, a new case had been registered in Khanvel in Silvassa against a mob which attacked a Talasari police team that was rushing to the lynching site as reinforcement, officials said. tak Watch: Karan Johar's son Yash mistakes his tijori to be a washing machine By Published On :: Thu, 07 May 2020 13:49:05 GMT Karan Johar's kids Yash and Roohi certainly have a fascination for their father's closet, and are hovering around that place most of the times. Quite understandable, given that Karan is a known fashion freak and has piles of interesting clothes in his closet. And apart from that, he also has a tijori inside one of the cupboards! This was a discovery for us, and the credit goes to Yash who thought it to be a washing machine and opened the cupboard door for us! Karan can't stop laughing when Yash tells him it is a washing machine, and says that his tijori is empty, thanks to the present economic condition, and a washing machine would actually be much more useful. LOL! He shared the video on Instagram and wrote, "Well we are now back in the closet but this time with a twist". tak Neymar may take 50 per cent pay cut to rejoin Barcelona: Report By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 5 May 2020 03:40:01 GMT Brazilian footballer Neymar is reportedly ready to take a 50 per cent pay cut on his existing Paris St. Germain deal to force through a move back to former club Barcelona. After spending four trophy-laden years in Spain, Neymar joined PSG in 2017 for an eye-watering sum of 198 million pounds. Reports have time and again surfaced that the star forward is unsettled in France and wants a Barca return in order to once again link-up with close friend Lionel Messi. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Neymar is ready to sacrifice half of his 600,000 pounds per week salary at PSG in order to make a sensational return to Barcelona. Barcelona was Neymar's first club in Europe and he won two LaLiga titles, three Copa del Reys and the Champions League once with the Catalan giants. Barcelona stars have also spoken about their admiration for Neymar and aren't against his return despite his unceremonious exit from the club few years ago. "Everybody knows 'Ney', we all know the affection we have for him in the dressing room," Suarez was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo last month. "His ability is indisputable and he still has so much to show. He will always be welcome in the changing room, we appreciate him a lot." Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here. tak RBI Steps in to Take Some Pain Off Mutual Funds. Will It Help? By feeds.equitymaster.com Published On :: Wed, 6 May 2020 00:00:00 GMT Posted by Equitymaster Last week the mutual fund industry was jolted by the news of Franklin Templeton MF winding down six of its debt schemes. The fund houses cited high redemption pressure and lack of liquidity due to COVID-19 as the reason behind the move. There has been a rush of redemption in the debt market due to high volatility and uncertainty caused by the outbreak of pandemic. The stress is more evident in high-risk category of securities where liquidity has dried up. Notably, the schemes that were wound up belonged to the high credit risk category. The recent FTMF fiasco led RBI to take note of the situation and step up to build confidence in the capital market. On April 27, 2020, RBI announced the opening of a special liquidity facility (SLF-MF) worth Rs 50,000 crore to ease liquidity pressure on mutual funds. Under SLF-MF, RBI will conduct repo operation of 90 days tenor at the fixed repo rate. Banks can avail funds under this facility between April 27, 2020 and May 11, 2020 or up to utilization of the allocated amount, whichever is earlier. RBI will review the timeline and amount, depending upon market conditions. Banks have to utilise the funds availed under this exclusively for meeting the liquidity requirements of MFs by: Extending loans, and Undertaking outright purchase of and/or repos against the collateral of investment grade corporate bonds, commercial papers (CPs), debentures and certificates of Deposit (CDs) held by MFs. The liquidity support under this would be eligible to be classified as held to maturity (HTM) even if it goes beyond the 25% limit of total investment in the HTM portfolio. --- Advertisement --- FREE Guide for You: Find the Next Crorepati Stock in this Futuristic IndustryTanushree Banerjee, the co-head of research, just shared her latest guide: Find the Next Crorepati Stock in this Futuristic Industry And she has agreed to make it available for free for a limited time. For banks, availing funds at a lower rate (repo rate) and using it to purchase investment grade, which generally carry higher interest, and holding them till maturity seems like a good opportunity, but they may not be as enthusiastic to come to the aid of MFs. You may recall that few days ago, RBI came out with a similar liquidity window worth Rs 50,000 for NBFCs. Of these, 50% of funds had to be dedicated towards investment in investment grade bonds, commercial paper, and non-convertible debentures small and mid-sized NBFCs and MFIs. NBFCs who have been dealing with liquidity crunch for quite some time now is one of the worst affected sectors with rising risk of bad loans amid the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, the first tranche of the operation worth Rs 25,000 crore conducted few days ago received bids for just Rs 12,850 crore. Similarly, the stress in debt mutual fund segment is not new - some categories of debt funds have been facing redemption pressure ever since the IL&FS debacle came to light. Banks may be reluctant to lend to mutual funds with higher exposure to lower quality papers, which have been lacking in liquidity. If banks do lend to MFs it may be limited to those with good quality papers. This will not serve the intended purpose of the facility. Many mutual funds investing in credit-risk grade securities may have offloaded good quality papers to meet the high redemption and may be now left with only lower quality papers. Risk aversion in banks has magnified due to rising fear of bad loan pile up. Hence, banks may not be keen to accept lower quality papers as collateral. Besides, some mutual funds may already have high borrowing rate availed to fund redemptions and further borrowing may not be a viable option for them. Thus, if redemption pressure continues, liquidity strain will continue in schemes carrying higher exposure to lower rated securities. Hence, RBI may have to come out with alternative steps to deal with issue that would infuse liquidity directly to mutual funds rather than relying on banks. --- Advertisement --- Corona Crash Alert: 7 Stocks You Absolutely Don't Want to Miss Our Co-Head of Research, Tanushree Banerjee, has identified 7 stocks that could do exceedingly well in the coming years riding on a rare economic event. Click here to find out how you can claim your FREE copy ------------------------------ Word of caution for investors in debt funds RBI and AMFI have assured investors that stress in capital market is confined to the high-risk debt MF segment at this stage; the larger industry remains liquid. In the current market volatile and uncertain environment, it would be advisable to stay away from credit risk schemes. However, do not resort to panic selling. Doing that will have an exponentially negative effect on funds, primarily those having exposure to moderate and low rated assets. Redemption pressure may force the fund managers to sell good quality papers in the portfolio in the secondary market and pile up exposure to low rated assets because it will be difficult to liquidate at fair value. Keep in mind that debt funds are not risk-free. Investment in debt funds carry various risks relating to liquidity, credit quality, and interest rate. Therefore, before investing in debt funds understand the various risks involved and invest in schemes where the portfolio risk aligns with your own risk appetite and financial objective. Moreover, choose a fund house that follows prudent investment process and stringent risk-management systems. In these uncertain times, it would be wise to stick with liquid funds and overnight funds for the debt part of your portfolio as they are highly liquid and carry lower risk. tak All aboard! Taking a toy train ride from Neral to Matheran By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 02 May 2018 01:30:56 GMT View from the train before entering One-Kiss Tunnel The tiny hill station of Matheran is a far cry from the peace and serenity that its British founder Hugh Poyntz Malet yearned for. In the 1850s, Indian Civil Service Officer Malet was the Thane collector and while camping below in the village of Chowk, he climbed up the hill-top to explore the region finding it lush green with clean air and water springs, an ideal spot for a vacation. In love with the place, he frequented it with friends and family. Soon, the then Governor of Bombay, Lord Elphinstone, visited the place to make it as a site for his bungalow (still known as Elphinstone Lodge). The rest is history. Today, over 160 years later, Matheran has lost much of its peace to commercialisation, but it retains some of its charm and character. It remains an eco-sensitive zone with no motorised vehicles, allowing only for horse rides, carts and cycle rickshaws. Though paver blocks have surfaced much of the red soil is intact, and it remains a quick getaway from fast-paced Mumbai. Peerbhoy original loco Track recordThe journey is fun if you are in a group as it takes just about two hours for the entire ride. Reach Neral on the Mumbai-Pune line and the Matheran narrow gauge train station is adjacent to it. The station and the line are well maintained and are in the tentative UNESCO World Heritage List. Tickets are available on the spot with no prior or on-line bookings due to its limited capacity. The Central Railway runs about 102 services every week (see box). With a width of two feet, it is one of India’s narrowest running passenger railways, and is similar to the Darjeeling Hill Railway. Matheran Railway station After booking our tickets, we settle down in our seats. We note that ticket checkers are quite strict. As the mini train pulls out, the initial stretch runs parallel to the Karjat railway line and we spot the local trains pass by, but a sharp right and a steep climb runs the train between two hillocks and the spirals begin. The railway line that was built as a private venture of the Peerbhoy family between 1901 and 1907 still maintains most of its original layout, except for a few stretches. The line winds around the mountain in spirals taking us 2,625 feet above sea level! Token Machine High on geographyThe train chugs along slowly, at only 13 kmph. The first station is after a distance of 4.8km called Jummapatti. Here, the road that had vanished meets the rail again and we spot motor vehicles speeding by. The line operates on the old token signalling system and the train comes for a brief halt here. Steam trains ran on the stretch till the early 1980s; these were replaced with diesel locomotives in 1984. As the train proceeds, there are three stretches, where we spot our train as it zigzags the curves to avoid reversing points. The next station is Water Pipe Road, called so due to its proximity to the twin metal water pipes that make their way to the station. It’s another place where tokens are exchanged. During the journey, the rail intersects the road at several places. A little ahead, we enter the One-Kiss Tunnel, popularly named so because it gives a couple time for just a kiss! The entire line has over 121 bridges (mostly minor), 221 curves and only one tunnel. As the train reaches the next station Aman Lodge, we spot tourists walking along the train and more crowds. Picnickers at Echo Point/PICS/RAJENDRA B. AKLEKAR This is the closest station to Dasturi Point till where motor vehicles are allowed. The railways have a number of special trains to cater to this crowd as beyond this point besides the train, only horse carriages, cycle rickshaws and carts are allowed. After we cross Aman Lodge, we reach Matheran in 20 minutes, and as we alight, the locomotive goes ahead in a spiral loop to make way for the return journey. WHAT TO SEELocated in the Sahyadris at 2,625 feet above sea level, Matheran has 38 points, including a lake. Panorama Point provides a 360-degree view of the surroundings and Neral, Charlotte Lake and Celia Point offer nice views of the dam. Echo Point, is a must-visit too. While in MatheranThe marketplace on the main street is ideal for knick-knacks, curios and food items like chikki and fudge.Phone network works well in the market, but weaken elsewhere. Villagers are co-operative but remember that Matheran has inadequate medical facilities. Ali Akbar Adamjee Peerbhoy Remembering a legacy“The story of the Matheran railway is intriguing. By the turn of the century, the hill resort became popular during summer vacation. Once, after arriving from Mumbai to Neral, Sir Adamji was unable to reach Matheran as no horses were available throughout the day due to the heavy rush. He returned with the thought that of improving things and came up with an idea of a small railway to connect uphill. It was the fastest available mode of transport and he was ready to fund it. This historic decision changed the destiny of the hill station. The next time he visited Matheran was only after his own railway was built,” recalls Ali Akbar Adamjee Peerbhoy (inset), second great-grandson of Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy. His forefather built the line as a family enterprise over a century ago. Toy train scheduleMonday: 17 services Tuesday to Thursday: 14 services Fridays: 21 services Weekends: 22 servicesCOST 1st class (adult): R300, 2nd 2nd class (adult):Rs 75. tak Brendon McCullum: T20 World Cup can be pushed to 2021 with IPL taking its slot By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 24 Apr 2020 02:23:47 GMT Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum on Wednesday advocated for this year's T20 World Cup to be postponed to early next year, saying the currently-suspended IPL should take the mega-event's slot. The COVID-19 pandemic has halted all global sporting activities, jeopardising the T20 World Cup, scheduled in Australia from October 18-November 15, and also "indefinitely" suspending the 13th IPL, which was slated to begin on March 29. "I think the IPL will try and target that October window and the T20 World Cup will get pushed back," McCullum, the coach of IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders, told 'Sky Cricket Podcast'. There is also the women's ODI World Cup scheduled in New Zealand in February, 2021. "That may mean the Women's World Cup gets pushed back but hopefully we get to see all three tournaments operate." McCullum said he neither sees the T20 World Cup happening without the stadium fans nor does he believe that teams from 16 nations will be able to travel to Australia in the wake of the pandemic, which has infected more than 20 lakh people globally. If IPL doesn't happen, none of the players or support staff get paid. The ICC's Chief Executives Committee (CEC) is set to meet on Thursday to discuss the financial implications of COVID-19 and also the contingency planning for all ICC global events, including the T20 World Cup, over a conference call. "For Australia to move 16 international teams plus all of their support staff and then broadcasters, seems a bridge too far. I can't see them playing the T20 World Cup behind closed doors either," McCullum said. "There may be a window a bit later in the new year of 2021 which could then open up a window for the IPL (in October and November). You'd have to move some overseas players for the IPL but with the broadcasters based in India, it is a lot easier to pull it all together. "The ICC and world cricket need crowds to operate but India can probably sustain things commercially behind closed doors because they are going to get so many eyeballs." Former New Zealand seamer Simon Doull, who joined McCullum and Ian Smith on the podcast, also believes spectators will be important to get the revenues flowing from the T20 World Cup. "A lot of the ICC's revenue for down the track comes from the World Cups so they want as many people in the stands as possible," he said. "They would hate to see a T20 World Cup under lockdown where no one could go and watch and the atmosphere would probably be a little bit less." Doull also said ICC needs to decide how important is the T20 World Cup. "How important is the T20 World Cup? That the first question from an ICC point of view," he said. "Is it important enough to have private jets out of each county with cricket teams on them, two weeks in quarantine in Australia and then the tournament taking place, whether there are fans in the stands or not? Is it that important?". Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here. Also download the new mid-day Android and iOS apps to get latest updates. Mid-Day is now on Telegram. tak Australia players won't be greedy if asked to take pay cut: Tim Paine By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 27 Apr 2020 06:58:08 GMT Australian cricketers are not going to be "greedy" if they are asked for a pay cut as it is important that the game thrives well into the future in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Test captain Tim Paine. With India's tour of Australia and the upcoming T20 World Cup in doubt due to the fast-spreading coronavirus, Cricket Australia has already stood down 80 per cent of its staff and now is in talks with Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) regarding a potential players' pay cut. "Players need to know the absolute financial positions of the game and the players aren't going to be greedy," Paine said on ABC Radio. "Our livelihood, all the people associated with the CA and the players association, their livelihood is dependent on the game of cricket being healthy. "So at the moment if a pay cut for us is on the cards and that keeps our game thriving well into the future, then that's something we'll certainly have to look at." Cricket Australia might lose a staggering AUD 300 million dollars if the Indian team fails to turn up for the bilateral series due to the global health crisis. Paine said he wasn't surprised at the poor financial state of the board. "I think commercially a lot of sponsors have been pretty hard hit and it's obviously going to hit Cricket Australia at some stage then as well," Paine said. "I think there's a bit of safeguarding towards the potential of India not coming (on a tour in December/January) which is worth something like 250 to 300 million dollars." Australia's borders are sealed till September 30 but in a bid to salvage the India tour, the government is considering providing international exemptions to allow the Indian team arrive in Australia. The 35-year-old Paine said he is not aware of any contingency plan if the India tour doesn't go ahead and hoped Virat Kohli and his men can arrive in Australia as planned. "I haven't just yet and I don't want to be. I'm hoping that they get here, that would solve a lot of issues," Paine said. "I know there's been some early talks with Cricket Australia and the government around the potential of what could be done, chartering planes and getting them in isolation when they get here to make sure that we can get India here. "But apart from that I've only heard a few things on the rumour mill about maybe New Zealand coming out and us going there." Asked about Michael Clarke's claims that the Australians had "sucked up" to Indian captain Kohli in recent years to protect lucrative IPL deals, Paine said the former Aussie captain should have taken individual names if he wants to take people on. "If you're going to come out with a big quote and try and take people on and cause any sort of trouble and have a crack at people, I think you name people individually and he certainly didn't," Paine said. "It was certainly unfounded because I was out on the field and there was no one taking it easy (on Kohli)." Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here. tak Mithali Raj: Teams don't take us lightly anymore By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 4 May 2020 08:10:45 GMT India ODI skipper Mithali Raj wants to add that elusive World Cup trophy to her cabinet before calling time on her illustrious career. Raj helped India reach final of the tournament on two occasions -- 2005 and 2017 -- but the 'Women in Blue' suffered heartbreaks against Australia and England respectively. Raj has stated that constantly churning out good results against top sides has helped the team gain a solid reputation in recent times. According to her, teams don't take India lightly anymore. "Teams don't take us lightly anymore and come prepared for us," Raj was quoted as saying by Sportstar. "Consistently beating the best sides in the world – be it Australia in the ODIs or England in the T20Is – has given us the confidence that we too are a side to beat." Raj took retirement from the shortest format after the T20 World Cup last year in a bid to prolong her ODI career. She revealed how this is motivating her to keep herself fit during this enforced break put forward by the coronavirus pandemic. "Fitness, at my age, is something I need to consciously and constantly keep up. I know I can't forget my skill. I still have some batting in me. I might need a few sessions to get my rhythm going," she said. "Some of us have running space while others like me have to manage within the restricted spaces indoors, so our trainers are adapting routines for us. (Coach) WV Raman is trying to be creative with our skill training regimen. "It is difficult because irrespective of how much we train indoors, we need to get out onto the ground to be fully prepared," she added. Catch up on all the latest sports news and updates here. tak Princess takes food to needy By www.mid-day.com Published On :: 3 May 2020 02:15:50 GMT New photos have been released to mark the fifth birthday of the UK's Princess Charlotte, Prince William and Kate Middleton's second born, showing her delivering homemade care packages to those in need during the coronavirus crisis. The four photos of Charlotte, who was born at the private maternity Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital here on May 2, 2015, were taken in April by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, a keen amateur photographer, the BBC reported. The Duchess, who is a patron of the Royal Photographic Society, has regularly released pictures she has taken of George, six, and Louis, two, to mark their birthdays. Charlotte joined her parents and brothers Prince George and Prince Louis to make the deliveries, likely to be close to the family home of Anmer Hall, on the Queen's Sandringham estate. In the photos released on Friday night, she is seen picking up white bags of food for pensioners who are shielding from the virus or other vulnerable people in lockdown in Norfolk. The family spent several hours making fresh pasta before delivering it, said the BBC report. Over the past five weeks, the Queen's Sandringham staff have been preparing and delivering meals for pensioners and vulnerable people living in the local area, Buckingham Palace has said, with about 1,000 meals being made and delivered in the first week alone.
