Premiering just last year, Jacobs faculty choreographer Sasha Janes’ updated, stereotype- shattering version of this most popular ballet tells the story from the perspective of curious young Marie.

With the help of her Aunt Drosselmeyer, Marie learns to unleash the power of her imagination to take the audience with her on a wild adventure.

This fresh take on a fantastical story still features the incomparable score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Bloomington’s own Nutcracker Ballet, danced by children for children and families! This slightly abridged version of the classic Nutcracker Ballet follows Clara through her adventures after receiving a magical gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer. Watch Clara and the Nutcracker battle the evil Mouse King, dance through a swirl of snowflakes into the night and arrive in the magical Land of the Sweets presided over by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her sweet courtiers. Was it all a dream? Or was it the magic of Uncle Drosselmeyer and his gift?

Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.

Children 3 and younger that can sit on a parent's lap and don't need their own seat do not need a ticket.

"Those delinquents hot-wired a carnival ride the other night." Hulu has revealed an fun trailer for a holiday comedy called Nutcrackers, the newest comedy directed by David Gordon Green. He spent a long time making his Halloween trilogy, but it's good to see him back directing more lively & funny films like he used to (Pineapple Express, Your Highness, Prince Avalanche, Manglehorn). Nutcrackers premiered at TIFF a few months ago and is opening direct-to-streaming on Hulu at the end of November in time for the holiday season. DGG's Nutcrackers follows strait-laced and work obsessed Mike as he is suddenly thrust into being a caregiver for his rambunctious, orphaned nephews. In the most unlikely of places, 4 siblings find a loving shelter in an unexpected turn of circumstances. This endearing dramedy draws inspiration from actual events and deftly crafts a gripping story that unites everyone. Whitebark pine is a critical component of subalpine ecosystems in western North America, where it contributes to biodiversity and ecosystem function and in some communities is considered a keystone species. Whitebark pine is undergoing rangewide population declines attributed to the combined effects of mountain pine beetle, white pine blister rust, and fire suppression. The restoration and maintenance of whitebark pine populations require an understanding of all aspects of seed fate. In this paper, we review the literature on seed dispersal in whitebark pine. Clark's nutcracker, pine squirrels, and scatter-hoarding rodents are all known to influence whitebark pine seed fate and ultimately affect the ability of whitebark pine populations to regenerate. We also provide a general overview of the natural histories of the most influential species involved with whitebark pine seed fate: Clark's nutcracker and the pine squirrel.
