Exploring the impact of monetary policy on sustainable development with mediation of e-banking services and moderation of financial risk awareness

Monetary policy is essential for sustainable growth where effective monetary policies can improve investment, employment, and consumption by fostering a balanced and resilient economy. However, sustainable development is vital for harmonising economic growth, social equity, and environmental preservation. A number of factors have been discussed in the literature that impact sustainable development. However, this study explicitly tries to investigate the nexus among the monetary policy (MP) toward sustainable development (SD) with the mediation of e-banking services (e-BS) and moderation of financial risk management (FRM) from China drawing on stakeholder theory. It discovered a significant connection between monetary policy and sustainable development along with sub-dimensions of SD. Likewise, this study confirmed a positive mediating influence of e-BS between monetary policy and sustainable development. Finally, the study additionally ensured a positive moderation of financial risk between monetary policy and sustainable development, respectively. These outcomes bestow several interesting insights into monetary policy, e-banking services, financial risk management, and sustainable development.

Information Technology Capabilities and SMEs Performance: An Understanding of a Multi-Mediation Model for the Manufacturing Sector

Aim/Purpose: Despite the fact that the plethora of studies demonstrate the positive impact of information technology (IT) capabilities on SMEs performance, the understanding of underlying mechanisms through which IT capabilities affect the firm performance is not yet clear. This study fills these gaps by explaining the roles of absorptive capacity and corporate entrepreneurship. The study also elaborates the effect of IT capability dimensions (IT integration and IT alignment) upon the SMEs performance outcomes through the mediating sequential process of absorptive capacity and corporate entrepreneurship. Methodology: This study empirically tests a theoretical model based on the Dynamic Capability View (DCV), by using the partial least square (PLS) technique with a sample of 489 manufacturing SMEs in Pakistan. A survey is employed for the data collection by following the cluster sampling approach. Contribution: This research contributes to the literature of IT by bifurcating the IT capability into two dimensions, IT integration and IT alignment, which allows us to distinguish between different sources of IT capabilities. Additionally, our findings shed the light on the dynamic capability view by theoretically and empirically demonstrating how absorptive capacity and corporate entrepreneurship sequentially affect the firms' performance outcomes. At last, this study contributes to the literature of SMEs by measuring the two levels of performance: innovation performance and firm performance. Findings: The results of the analysis show that the absorptive capacity and the corporate entrepreneurship significantly mediate the relationship between both dimensions of IT capability and performance outcomes.

Outstanding Remediations Tracking

One of the common questions often asked of the IT team is “how many systems are missing patches and how many patches are missing on each system?”  This dashboard uses the “Patch Report” plugin and organizes the current patch status for systems scanned with credentials.  The IT team can now easily communicate the specific systems with missing patches to executives.

The Nessus "Patch Report" plugin (66334) elegantly summarizes all of the missing patches and general remediation actions required to remediate the discovered vulnerabilities on a given host. Instead of counting the number of vulnerabilities, the plugin lists applications that need to be upgraded. The approach is not only much easier for IT administrators to consume, but the count of applications provides a measure of how much "work" is required to secure a system.

The dashboard provides risk guidance using the “Remediation Summary” tool.  This tool works by employing a concept called “top patch”.  Tenable Security Center uses proprietary technology to identify a chain of patches.  The first patch in the chain is called the “top patch”.  If the “top patch” is applied, all subsequent vulnerabilities will also be remediated at the same time.  Using both the Remediation Summary tool and “Patch Report” plugin, the organization can better plan remediation efforts.

The dashboard and its components are available in the Tenable Security Center Feed, a comprehensive collection of dashboards, reports, assurance report cards and assets.  The dashboard can be easily located in the Tenable Security Center Feed under the category Executive. The dashboard requirements are:

  • Tenable Security Center
  • Nessus
  • This dashboard requires “Full Text Search” to be enabled for each analyzed repository.

Please note the "Full Text Search" option must be enabled for the repository to support the trending component.

Tenable Security Center has the ability to identify all discoverable vulnerabilities, eliminating blind spots. Tenable detects missing patches, incorrect configurations, lapsed defenses, incomplete monitoring and network intruders—so you can mitigate them.  Tenable Security Center can show risk across all systems, enabling informed decisions.  Tenable’s approach to continuous monitoring reaches across cloud, virtual, mobile and traditional systems and measures attack vectors in each of these domains.  Tenable Security Center provides a unique combination of detection, reporting, and pattern recognition utilizing industry recognized algorithms and models.  By providing that single point of data collection, Tenable.sc enables sharing of vulnerability scanning results across the technical groups and business owners. Tenable.sc is continuously updated with information about advanced threats and zero-day vulnerabilities, and new types of regulatory compliance configuration audits.

Components

Remediations Tracking - Top 25 Remediations: This component provides the top 25 remediation actions that can be taken to reduce overall risk.  The table is sorted using vulnerability weight scores, which are calculated differently for each organization.  To determine score weights, login with the admin account, edit your organization and then select “Analysis”.  In the upper right hand corner, there are four scores, one for each severity level. The default scores are: critical = 40, high = 10, medium = 3 and low = 1. The vulnerability weight helps to determine a fully calculated score used in risk analysis.

The Outstanding Remediations - Time Since Patch Publication (Assets) matrix displays the total count of missing patches across the environment. The matrix is comprised of five columns. The first column provides a count of the vulnerabilities that are exploitable, and the last four columns provide counts of vulnerabilities based on Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR) levels. VPR scores are displayed as column headers in traditional severity text.  Critical represents VPR 9-10, High represents VPR 7-8.9, Medium represents VPR 4-6.9, and Low represents VPR 0.1-3.9. Each row filters the vulnerabilities based on the patch publication date of less than 30 days ago, Current Quarter, Last Quarter, Current Year, Last Year, and greater than 365 Days.

The End of Life Software Detection table displays a list of software that is no longer supported by the vendor. The table is sorted by the count column, which lists a count of the total number of assets affected by the unsupported software package. The filter used is for Plugin Name equals Unsupported. Tenable recommends that assets found here be upgraded to a higher supported version as soon as possible, since vendors no longer list active vulnerabilities for end-of-life software.

The Outstanding Remediations by Device Type (Vulnerabilities) matrix displays the total count of missing patches by device type. There is a row present which groups devices by type, such as Linux, Windows, or macOS devices. Counts present in each cell represents the number of vulnerabilities present for the device group and VPR score.

Key trends & developments in international mediation

As the profile of businesses engaged in disputes is now more diverse than ever, there is a need for dispute resolution mechanisms that are culturally responsive as well as internationally robust. Mediation is one mechanism that offers a flexible and confidential forum for business to resolve their differences in an effective and efficient way. Interest in mediation to resolve cross-border disputes has increased dramatically in recent years due to increasing access to the Internet and the growing number of smaller enterprises doing business internationally. Nadja Alexander is Professor of Law at SMU School of Law. Israelis fear for hostages as Qatar says Gaza mediation on hold

Tel Aviv, Israel — Israeli protesters expressed concern for the hostages in Gaza on Saturday, after Qatar said it was pausing as a key mediator for a cease-fire that would help bring the captives home. Thousands of people rallied in Tel Aviv holding signs reading "400," the number of days since the hostages were taken when Hamas militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Efforts to broker a truce in the ensuing war between Hamas and Israel have proven fruitless, and on Saturday Qatar put its mediation on hold until the two sides showed "willingness and seriousness" in talks. Protester Ruti Lior said she was unsure how much sway Qatar had, but was still "very, very worried" by their decision to pull back from negotiations. "This is further proof for me that there really is no seriousness, and these deals are being sabotaged," the 62-year-old psychotherapist told AFP. Saturday's rally featured an installation of masks representing Netanyahu along with signs bearing the word "Guilty." Other placards read "Hostage deal now" and "Drop your weapon, stop the war." "How many more tears must fall and how much more blood must be shed before someone does what needs to be done and brings our children home?" Niva Wenkert, mother of hostage Omer Wenkert, was quoted as saying in a statement released by campaign group Hostage and Missing Families Forum. In the October 7, 2023, attack, Hamas militants killed 1,200 people and captured about 250 hostages, sparking the war in Gaza. Israel says it believes Hamas is still holding 101 hostages, including 35 the military says are dead. Hamas has been designated a terror group by the United States, the U.K. and other Western countries. Israel’s counteroffensive in Gaza has killed more than 43,000 people, according to the territory's health ministry, which does not distinguish between combatants and civilians in its count. Israelis have been protesting weekly to pressure their government to do more to secure the captives' release. Qatar, which has hosted Hamas's political leadership since 2012 with U.S. blessing, has been involved in months of protracted diplomacy aimed at ending the war in Gaza. But the talks, also mediated by Cairo and Washington, have repeatedly hit snags since a one-week truce in November 2023 -- the only one so far -- with both sides trading blame for the impasse.
