Hurricane Ian has caused catastrophic damage to life, property, and infrastructure across Florida, and it is headed toward Georgia and the Carolinas. The National Academies have many resources aimed at better understanding hurricanes, how climate change may be affecting their intensity and frequency, and how communities can become more resilient to extreme events.

In September 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane along Florida’s southwest coast, bringing high winds, storm surges and massive flooding.

The challenge for restorers now becomes who pays as many homeowners in the area lack insurance. 

The work completed on a metal roof by R/J Group was quickly be put to the test as Hurricane Ian blew through only two weeks after completion.
