Extending the Yonge line will only make crowding worse

Line 1 is over capacity—adding more stops isn't the solution.

We need to talk about this idea to extend the Yonge line up to Richmond Hill. The Yonge line is already congested. Anyone who rides the subway regularly is aware of this. The immediate plans to address it are, shall we say, unimpressive. The Yonge Relief Network Study done in 2015 for Metrolinx [PDF] focused […]

Dressing the Line

With the other two bases finished, I took the opportunity to get them all together and add some battle debris. Broken shields and weapons and spears stuck in the ground.
This warrior has thrown down his heavy shield and unslung his short bow.
These bits and bobs help to tell little stories in each base and add to the drama. I’ve just noticed there is a spot where the ground mix didn’t get to around the feet of the Dwarf with the spear, must fix that.

I wanted to give the impression that the shield wall was hard pressed and under a lot of pressure, I think the extra details help with that illusion. The base below is one of the new ones with a wild charge getting started.

I also added shields etc to the back ranks to fill out the bases.

Offline seo tricks

Using social networks, building backlines, and article writing are just a few free SEO tools you can use to get traffic to your website or blog. But you don’t always need to be in front of your computer all day to boost traffic and get your site noticed. There are lots of ways to get noticed using offline SEO tactics. I’ve tried to include as many free or as inexpensive ideas as possible, some of them will be on the more expensive side and will probably be out of your budget for. But as your site grows and your revenue (if your making money from your site) goes up there worth considering.

Minecraft "Minecrack" Review

Minecraft or as I prefer to call it “Minecrack” is a game that was recently recommend to my by a friend. At first glance the game looks like a throwback to the original Atari or Nintendo game systems (think Mario Bros type graphics minus having to jump on walking mushrooms) The game essentially has the look of a giant Lego world consisting entirely of blocks, the animals, trees, even the water are all blocks. There’s also no set point system or objective you have to reach in order to beat the game. But despite this the game is exceptionally addictive. I personally found it very easy to spend a few hours on it before I realized how much time had gone by.

Top 10 Searched Topics Online (blog post)

One of the biggest challenges when starting a new blog or website is deciding what the topic of your site is going to be about. You also want to take into consideration what people are looking for online. If you’re stuck on an idea for your site here are the 10 most popular topics that are searched for online besides porn of course and the rough percentage of traffic each one gets.

Using SEO To Manage Your Online Reputation

It’s a safe bet that if anyone from a potential employer to coworkers, to that girl down the street you asked out on a date will type your name into a search engine. As we become more connected with the internet and social media every day, this has become a common theme. A 2009 study by Microsoft revealed that around 80% of hiring managers in the United States searched for a candidate online and around 70% of that group didn’t hire the person they searched because of what they found online............ Fast forward to the recent riot here in Vancouver and you can see why your online reputation holds so much weight. Rioters and those who decide it would be a smart idea to get their picture beside a burning police car are now finding themselves being fired from their jobs, while the pictures they posted on Facebook have been circulated to the police. It’s an extreme example of how your online reputation can be damaged, but it drives home the importance a good online reputation.

Minecraft 1.8 Review

For those eagerly waiting for the first half of the first half of the Mincraft adventure update, the wait is finally over. And no I’m not talking about some buggy pre release that is a pain in the ass to properly install that’s been out for just over a week prior. As of Sept 14 it’s available to the masses who are looking to feed their “minecrack” addiction........... Because of the recent changes I figured it was time for an updated Minecraft review covering some of the recent changes. This is not a complete review on the 1.8 adventure update, just what I’ve seen and experienced in the game so far to give you an idea what to expect..........

Minecraft 1.9 Update

With November being scheduled as the “official” release of Minecraft the team at Mojang are hard at work putting together Minecraft’s 1.9 update. This is possibly the last update before the release and like the 1.8 adventure update will be packed full of new features, crafting recipes and other stuff. Details at this point are scarce, but from the information that’s out there here are some of the things that could be included in the new 1.9 update..........

Minecraft 1.9 Pre Release (Blog Post)

Wondering when Minecraft’s 1.9 update is coming out, very soon. Very soon as in how long it takes to download the pre release just released today. Or if you prefer to wait for a non buggy version like 1.8 it should be out in a few days once the team at Mojang get player feedback to fix potential bugs...........

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and, for a lot of us, it’s an event that won’t be like normal. The possibility of many Mother’s Day traditions, like a nice dinner at a restaurant, isn’t even possible in many areas, and social distancing closes the door on many ideas, whether it’s enforced in your area or not. So, what options are there for Mother’s Day that don’t involve just ordering a gift online somewhere and having it shipped to […]

Trump Gets Roasted And Meme'd For His Orange Tan Line

President Donald Trump was photographed on Friday returning to the White House from a trip to North Carolina and let's just say...he's looking a bit like a mandarin orange. People have been meme-ing and roasting the photo, which shows a very defined tan line of the orange variety on his face. Trump of course called the photo "fake news," and while we have to partially agree that the original was likely altered a bit, it's still amusing to see the reactions nonetheless!

Limiting liability for a resumption of business activity

I have a short Mercatus policy brief on that topic, co-authored with Trace Mitchell.  Excerpt: Risk from reopening cannot fall to zero, but investments in safety by employers can bring real gains in many cases. Ideally, a plan should both minimize risk and encourage employers’ safety investments. In essence, policymakers should (1) limit liability in […]

Fox's Judge Napolitano Slams ‘Dangerous’ McConnell Plan To Shield Businesses From Coronavirus Lawsuits

Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano said on Thursday that a Republican plan to shield businesses from coronavirus-related lawsuits is “dangerous.”

Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) suggested that he would not support additional relief funds to households and businesses unless the package also includes a measure shielding businesses from liability for coronavirus infections.

But Napolitano argued that the provision would be anti-conservative and violate states rights.

“Can the Congress tell state courts that they cannot hear claims of liability when someone goes into a public accommodation and contracts coronavirus?” the Fox News analyst explained. “Congress has been very reticent to do that. Conservatives who believe in states rights have been very reluctant to interfere with the operation of state courts.”

Napolitano pointed out that the only other instance where Congress has restricted state courts is a law that prohibits gun manufacturers from being sued over gun violence.

“I think that this liability shield business is very dangerous,” he added. “The decision of whose fault someone was harmed by should be decided by juries and not by politicians.”
